"Friendly staff, always available to meet the resident's needs. The grounds are a lovely place to sit and chat over a cup of tea and relax, and often activities are going on for anyone to engage in. Lovely, clean home, very welcoming. Highly recommend the home."

"I am overwhelmed at the standard of care my Mum receives at the Cedars. I moved her from another care home locally where I was very disappointed. The staff at the Cedars are fantastic. They CARE. They engage with the residents all the time. They genuinely want to make sure every resident is an individual and every need is met. The activities are geared to individuals and there is always something going on. The staff are very open to feedback and encourage regular meetings for families to hear about where they can improve. The food looks delicious and they create individual menus for residents. The new refurbishment is outstanding in quality and design - it's like a plush hotel! I am always greeted with a warm welcome from reception through to nursing care, housekeeping and laundry - everyone refers to me by name and I feel the staff are happy in their jobs and proud of where they work. Well done to the Barchester Team - you are amazing!"

"Our perception of The Cedars over the last three years has been poor. This is due to the high turnover of management and staff. Over the last four months, under totally new management, the care has vastly improved. We have been with the home now for over six years, and it has been a bumpy road. Continuity of staff and management is of paramount importance to maintain the high standard of care that we expect. This far above decoration, there are just window dressings, staff and management are the important factors."

"We visited my aunt on her Birthday, we were warmly welcomed. The chef made her a lovely Birthday cake. Many staff, admin, carers and her nurse wished her a Happy Birthday. She was made feel special and so were we. Thank you so much."

"I always find the staff busy and occupied, but invariably very willing to assist and help with anything that will help residents feel happier or guests feel more welcome. Staff always looking for opportunities to learn more about resident's backgrounds, too, as this can help in all interactions. I find this highly reassuring and an indicator of an attitude of genuine care."

"Cedars cared for my mother superbly so when my husband needed help, I could no longer provide (he has Lewy body dementia) I knew where to contact. He has been there for 16 months now. He is settled, extremely well cared for and genuinely loved by the carers who say he is a perfect gentleman. I can sleep soundly."

"The staff at Cedars Nursing Home always demonstrate a good knowledge of my mother, for example, will use my mother's unusual terminology when giving feedback. They use good skills to encourage her to engage in activities. The home's activities are central to the varied needs and interests of the residents and it is lovely to see much staff involved in the activities."

"The Cedars seemed to have coped extremely well with all that's been thrown at them in this difficult time. No problems at all, everyone is very friendly and easy to talk to."

"The staff and general atmosphere within the home are warm and welcoming. There has been more evidence of room cleaning this year and the domestic help appears to have increased. Unfortunately, there still appears to be issues regarding washing and tumble drying clothes that appear to sometimes shrink or contain a residue? due to washing powder. The food is sadly often cold and lacks seasoning although the difficulty of meeting the needs of everyone is acknowledged. The activities arranged for residents are stimulating and provide a friendly and interesting environment. Unfortunately due to COVID-19, this was ended but the staff has made every effort to maintain health, safety, and wellbeing. Thank you."

"My parent has been a home resident for 18 months. They have been treated with the utmost care, dignity, and support. The staff offer exemplary personalised care and show such thoughtful kindness at every step. My parent is happy, settled, and feels at home. We could not ask for more and have no concerns for their happiness and wellbeing. We unreservedly recommend the home to anyone needing or considering care."

"The first thing to say is that the staff are amazing and giving it 110%. However, I do feel that since my mother became resident in February this year the care home has been grappling with severe staff shortages, now exacerbated by the Covid-19 Pandemic. The only thing I can say is that the staff are doing an amazing job in very difficult circumstances but hopefully once better times arrive, they will be able to achieve the staffing levels they need. However, I am increasingly alarmed at there being no long term strategy that I am aware of to reinstate family visits safely and get the residents out of their rooms, even in small groups, to speak to other residents. Mum's mental health is being badly affected by her isolation."

"My mother stayed at The Cedars twice on respite and is now a resident, that says it all! The surroundings are fabulous. It's like one big family. Even me, as a visitor, feels part of it. As a son, I want the best I can get for my mum and I don't think I could find anywhere better. I have marked everything as excellent because that is how I feel."

"My Mum has been a resident since December 2023. All of the staff are amazing, and nothing is too much trouble. It feels like being part of a family. My father was also in the home for a short time before he passed away. The care given to both him and our family was exceptional; there was always a hug or cup of tea if needed. I would highly recommend this home to anyone."

"I arrived at Barchester The Cedars Nursing Home seven weeks ago. I came here suffering with depression and within ten days, it was gone. Your home is so clean, food is really good and the staff are wonderful. My husband came one year ago, the staff are so kind to him, you have only got to ask for something, it's done straight away. Yes, it was hard to leave our home but it was right to move. Best of all, the family know we are sage and being looked after."

"My Dad moved in last December as his Alzheimer's was becoming more harder to cope at home. Dad settled in fairly quickly and the care that he receives is second to none. They even arranged for a couple of Austin A30 to visit which was my Dad's 1st car, it made my his day. Recently Mum went into respite care due to not coping at home without Dad and has now moved in permanently and has settled in quickly. The food is all home cooked and very tasty. There are lots of varied activities everyday and families are welcome to join in . Mum is the the residential part so can see Dad whenever she likes. Thank you to all the staff for the care and compassion that you show my parents, I couldn't ask for a better place."

"Barchester The Cedars Nursing Home is simply magnificent. The staff are wonderful, the facilities superb and the overall standard of care exceeded my expectations. In particular, the end-of-life care my mum received was wonderful and gave me the reassurance that she was in safe hands for the last few days of her life and with the ability for me to stay with her too."

"My nan has settled in well at Barchester The Cedars Nursing Home and there is always a warm welcome from the reception team and manager when I visit. My nan enjoys being able to freely socialise throughout the home with the new friends she has made. Nan is happy there and speaks highly of the staff."

"We would like to say a huge thank you for all the care and support that Dad receives. All the staff are great. Cedars is very homely and we are so happy that Dad lives here. Thank you so much to the guys in the kitchen who made a beautiful cake for Mum who had her 85th Birthday. Mum is not a resident but we were able to celebrate with Dad. Such a lovely moment and so grateful."

"I regard Barchester The Cedars Nursing Home as a second home where I can visit my husband whenever I wish and stay the whole day. He is looked after so wonderfully and feels surrounded not only by very competent, friendly staff but also an atmosphere of genuine warmth and never-ending kindness. All the staff, without exception, ensure that each resident is showered with affection and attention and welcomed within a very special happy community."

"My mum is at the end of her life. Throughout the time she has been at Barchester The Cedars Nursing Home, she has been so well looked after by patient, kind and caring staff. My mum has not been an easy resident. Her dementia has caused quite challenging behaviour. But throughout, everyone at The Cedars has worked so very hard to keep her calm and to look after her. Also, the communication with me has been so very good. If you are reading this review because you are looking for a care home, I recommend that you look no further - The Cedars is the place."

"Our dear friend travelled in October 2023 to be closer to good friends from the area. Sadly it was not destined to be a very long stay and she passed at The Cedars just before Christmas 2023. I was touched by the understanding and compassion of all the staff, particularly the manager who attended her Thanksgiving service with a colleague in the village. The compassion and efforts of the staff to try to help our friend settle and to enable me and other friends to feel comfortable and always welcome at the Cedars was really appreciated, despite the residents not always making their jobs easy. And there was also always a welcome and a desire to help when I telephoned. Thank you all."

"It is not the fabric of a care home that makes it a good placement for a loved one, it is the engagement with dedicated staff who are always welcoming and so kind. The Cedars Nursing Home has cared both for my late father and my mother who died this week with dignity and respect. I cannot speak highly enough of the dedication the staff show towards residents and visiting family and friends. Their approach is always sincere and nothing was too much trouble for them despite how busy they always are. I visited nearly every other day and at different times so I gained a real feeling about the care given. The manager has always been more than accommodating and at all times, so approachable. A real asset to the home, well done to all."

"I would recommend this care home 100 times over. I would recommend the cake and coffee given to visitors/families as it is always delightful - go to the Cedars just to try it! The care staff are lovely, kind and friendly and always have a smile on their faces. Nothing is ever too much to ask. My partner has some high needs and they are very patient with him. If you are looking for a super care home, go here."

"Caring, compassionate and always positive is how I would describe every member of staff who looks after my mum at the Cedars Care Home. Altzheimers can make her difficult and demanding but she is treated with dignity and respect at all times. Clean and comfortable, beautiful surroundings, a huge range of activities and welcoming staff - I would highly recommend!"

"My mother-in-law has been a resident at Cedars for a number of years. The care is outstanding. All the staff are efficient and very approachable. Nothing is too much trouble, their resident's care is always first priority. The activities team are amazing, they really do go the extra mile for every resident, nothing is too much trouble and special activities are arranged to make them feel special. Would highly recommend this special place."

"My husband died at The Cedars in November 2023. I cannot praise highly enough the devoted love and care my husband, family and I received from every single member of staff throughout that year, especially in the final few very difficult weeks. The atmosphere at the Cedars was never ever other than happy, loving and compassionate. I miss the welcome I got from my weekly visits and was very touched that some members of staff voluntarily attended his Thanksgiving Service."

"My mum has been at Barchester The Cedars Nursing Home since June. It was a very rocky start to begin with as Mum wouldn’t settle but wow, how things have changed. My mum is now so happy at Cedars. The staff have been brilliant, not only with settling Mum but also towards us. All the staff are very friendly and genuinely want to do the best for my mum. Mum loves to chat and living at Cedars gives her the ability to be social and take part in many activities. The home has a welcoming feel as soon as you enter. I would highly recommend Cedars to anyone and allowing dogs to visit is a great bonus!"

"We very much appreciated the care and patience the team at Barchester The Cedars Nursing Home provided to my father. He was there nearly six months, transitioning from quite independent to very dependent. Cedars adapted their care as his needs changed and we felt they always had his best interests at heart. The staff were lovely and this made a real difference to my father, who wanted to maintain involvement in his care and to have a degree of companionship. We also found the broader team to be responsive to our needs as a family. Thank you."

"The Cedars Nursing Home was the second attempt at finding the right for Mum and I am so happy we found them. You are always greeted with a smile from every staff member you pass. They always make you feel welcome and care about the relative's welfare just as much as the residents. The most important thing for me was to have somewhere with calm energy as Mum has been through so much and The Cedars finally provides this. On Memory Lane, people are always treated with respect in a calm and friendly manner. Keep up the amazing work!"

"Our mother passed away recently after more than three years at the Cedars. The staff are all friendly, smiling and happy and Mum was really happy there. The buildings and surrounding gardens are lovely, there is a really wonderful variety of activities and events and the staff really do care for the residents. I knew my mum was popular there but I was genuinely touched by the number in tears and offering their condolences when she passed. I would not hesitate to recommend the Cedars to anyone looking for a home for their loved ones."

"A wonderful caring residential home. The staff are so friendly and the care they give is outstanding, not only to the residents but to their families. The home sits on the most beautiful grounds and is immaculate inside. My mother has only been there a short time but we are hoping she can stay as she feels safe and not alone, mum has made some friends and is very happy."

"Although I have marked most of the categories good, I believe them to be very good. My mother has only been in the care home for a month but here there has been a marked improvement in her general condition. The staff have been friendly and cooperative and professional and made what was a difficult time for my mother (and her family) a less stressful process. I would not hesitate to recommend this care provider."

"When I visit, the staff are always welcoming. Each resident is treated as an individual and there is a strong sense of community. There is a good variety of activities and always a happy atmosphere. In the recent hot weather, good use has been made of the well-kept gardens. It is friendly, relaxed and well organised and I enjoy spending time there with my friend and seeing her valued and well cared for."

"The Cedars Nursing Home has improved tremendously since my Mum has been a resident. The staff are like one happy family, put themselves out even with activities making sure everyone is ok. Management staff very approachable and friendly, they told me the door is always open. Nursing staff great too any concerns they contact the doctor also inform me. Mum's room is charming kept clean and tidy with a lovely view. I have asked my mum if she’s happy there on many occasions with a reply “Yes”. Thank you all at the Cedars."

"Our decision to place my wife into The Cedars was the best one we've made. The entire experience for her and family members was amazing. All the staff went the extra mile in their care duties. They could change their role from nurse/carer etc straight into a mothering figure when it was needed. They all worked as a 'well-oiled machine' and treated my wife with dignity and respect and we became friends. It was a delight to come to visit The Cedars. The decor was so relaxing to everyone. It was comparable to a high-class hotel."
