Activities at Challoner House Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Challoner House Care Home
Carnival Crafts
We decided to have a craft morning based around Notting Hill Carnival. Our residents and staff made headdresses and listened to some steel drum carnival music and spoke about the costumes, music and atmosphere at carnivals.
Challoner House Awards
We arranged our own small awards ceremony at Challoner House. Everyone won an award, including the staff! All recipients took home a certificate and a small trophy too.
Italian Day
Today we held an Italian-themed day. Residents enjoyed making their own pizzas listening to Italian music followed by an Italian-themed lunch.
Ice Cream Afternoon
We had planned an ice cream afternoon in the garden, however, the weather was not so warm, so we held it in the home instead.
We had a trolley playing music from an ice cream van, 5 different flavours of ice cream and lots of toppings; the residents really enjoyed choosing their favourite treats. They said it brought back memories of childhood days on the beach.
Glamorous Grandmas
We held a 'Glamorous Grandma' competition and afternoon tea in the garden, as we could not possibly make a decision who should win, as they are all wonderful, they all received a certificate and a little treat. The ladies had a lovely afternoon enjoying the tea and cakes in the sunshine.
100th Birthday Celebrations
Our lovely resident Bill recently celebrations his 100th birthdday here at Challoner with cake and balloons.
