What our families say on carehome.co.uk

"Mum spent over 2 weeks in hospital with a very unpleasant bacterial infection. Visually impaired and in isolation, she became very anxious. Barchester Collingtree Park Care Home ladies came in to assess for return, making mum really smile for the first time in weeks. Her return to her room was so welcoming - staff came to see her, the radio was on, heating turned up and everything was immaculately cleaned. The warmth of that welcome made the transition so easy for mum - she said it was lovely to be 'home'. She continues to have excellent care. Collingtree is definitely the best choice we could have made."

"My mother has just spent a month at Barchester Collingtree Park Care Home for respite care. I was very impressed with the care she received and how friendly and caring the staff were to my mother and myself. I have no worries about Mum having another holiday with them in the future."

"I feel safe here and enjoy the pleasant gardens. It is good to have company, but also I like my own room. I enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles and have a large table in my room to leave partly finished puzzles on."

"The care my mother receives is excellent. Although she suffers from dementia, she is treated with dignity and care by all members of staff. She appears extremely happy and settled and loves to have visitors."

"Excellent care home. The staff are very friendly. The facilities are good. Impressed with the make-over downstairs and hopefully this refurbishment can be continued upstairs. Mum is in good hands! Well done!"

"Mum's stay with you was unfortunately too short and for that reason, I can only say that I feel she would have been better catered for if she was placed in a room on the ground floor."

"Today we came to Barchester Collingtree Park Care Home luncheon club (invited as previous residents). As always, excellent service and lunch provided by the home for myself and my wife. Lovely food and just the right amount for us."

"A lovely care home in a quiet cul-de-sac. The staff are fabulous, very dedicated and loving towards the residents. Excellent facilities and food! More outside access for residents with dementia, slightly 'cooped up' on first floor. Difficult, but sometimes there was a 'smell' on the first floor."

"I was made very welcome on my initial visit and was able to see around the entire home. All my questions were answered fully and with understanding. We were invited to dinner for my husbands assessment and again the visit was handled with sensitivity and understanding. He has now started fortnightly day care with respite care every 2 months. He is very happy to go which has given me (as his sole carer) peace of mind and a weight off my shoulders."

"A good care home that cares well for your relative. The home is clean and is well presented. The staff are polite and make conversation with the relatives which is appreciated. There is a monthly what's on listing that each person has and informs them of what's coming up. In general, it is a happy environment. The individual rooms are comfortable and there is the choice to use the existing furniture or you can take your own. The room can be changed around and you are allowed to hang pictures etc. which makes it more familiar and homely for the resident. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home."

"Having visited a number of care homes, my first impression when I visited Collingtree Park and met senior staff, carers and other support staff, was that this was the home would be perfect for my wife (later confirmed by other family members). First impressions were proved to be fully justified. Although unfortunately, my wife did not live long enough to fully enjoy all that was available. What I can say is that Collingtree Park provides an outstanding quality of care tailored to individual residents needs and I cannot speak too highly as to how they looked after my wife. Inspirational leadership from the top ensures commitment and team spirit that delivers care in a calm and pleasant atmosphere."

"I went into Collingtree Park for respite care whilst my husband recovered from an operation. The care home staff were friendly and welcoming, the room was clean and comfortable. In general, the care was good but certain aspects of my needs were not always catered for. For example, I have great difficulty holding cutlery and therefore forks and spoons have to be strapped to my hand and food cut up into small pieces. This was not always done and I was unable to feed myself at those times."

"General impression is good. Lovely grounds and staff appeared very pleasant, as my husband was only in for respite I can't comment on any thing else as I was away."

"My late mother-in-law was in this home for two and a half years our experience was so positive that I chose Collingtree for my mother too. The staff genuinely cares for our family members and clearly all due to other residents. There is a community atmosphere which is inclusive, fun, patient and understanding. My mother is disabled however nothing is considered insurmountable. The staff and management work as a cohesive and respectful team. Their communication is second to none within the home and to families. Thank you."

"When I came to look for care for Mum - Firstly I needed availability and once I viewed Collingtree Park I had a wonderful welcome. Mum settled well into her new home and moving forward I know she is in safe hands and I can approach any member of her team to discuss Mum's care needs."

"The home is in beautiful surroundings, well maintained, but its biggest asset is its staff. I found the staff on Memory Lane kind, cheerful, caring and attentive. My father said they were in his words 'blooming lovely'. What else can I say! That says it all."

"My mother has been a resident at Collingtree over the past 4 years, suffering from dementia. We made the decision to move Mum into a care home after she had a fall at home, resulting in a broken hip. Over her time at Collingtree, she has fallen again, had another hip operation, suspected strokes, and very sadly has passed away last week after a long and active life. We will miss her terribly. As a family we are indebted to the team at Collingtree for the commitment, patience and love they have shown our mother whilst in their care. You forget that the staff spend so much time with these individuals, day and night, that when they are gone, it is not only the family who are grieving but also the staff themselves. Mummy required 24/7 care in her last days and the Collingtree team were on hand without question to look after her with dignity, care and respect. Thank you so much to everyone from our family."

"Such a lovely welcome when you arrive. Everybody is very friendly and I love the new refit, very cosy. I would certainly recommend this place to have a look around if they wanted a care home for their elderly relatives."

"My mother receives excellent care, the staff are friendly, happy and always have time for us relatives. When mum had problems they worked closely with us to help her and minimise any stress. They provide lots of events and activities for the residents. Mum has settled well, is healthy, happy, safe and well cared for."

"I spent a month at Barchester Collingtree Park Care Home in order to convalesce after a complex hip fracture. This was such a good experience for me. My room overlooked the pretty garden, food was a real treat every day and everyone was so kind, caring and supportive. I was able to invite friends to join me for meals which was lovely. Barchester Collingtree Park Care Home residents were treated with respect and dignity. There was also a lot of laughter and genuine warmth in the care provided. I am now at home recovering slowly and learning to walk again."

"Very welcoming and friendly staff. There was a bouquet of flowers to welcome my mother to their home which she loved, people to set up her television and to put up her pictures on the walls. Staff came and introduced themselves to her and to see if she needed anything. My mother said she felt like a queen with all the attention she was getting which was a great start to her new life there and every day she gets the same attention which is wonderful. I feel extremely lucky that my mother has such a lovely home to live the rest of her life in."

"My experience of Collingtree Park has been extremely positive. My aunt had been living independently in her own home but circumstances changed and a residential home move was necessary. Collingtree Park made this transition as comfortable as possible, identifying my aunt's concerns and addressing her needs successfully. To date, she appears very happy with her new environment."

"The location and setting with beautiful gardens are very pleasant. The refurbished areas downstairs are extremely pleasing and of a high standard. Staff are friendly, but I feel there could be more frequent checks. Sadly, the upstairs floor always smells which is unnecessary and indicates attention is required. However, I do appreciate that I am unaware of all the demands in a care home."

"Collingtree Park Care Home is professionally run but at the same time feels like home. My father has been a resident for over five years now and his needs have always been met. The staff get to know the residents properly, ensure they are safe and listen to their views. Relatives also get a chance to share their views and there are regular meetings held with the home's manager. Collingtree Park is exceptionally well run and I would not hesitate to recommend it to others."

"I needed to find a home close to me for my Mum. Visiting eight homes was very distressing and I hated having to make a decision. When I turned up at Collingtree they were wonderful, offered informal but informed information, non-bias and were extremely helpful. Upon Mum's arrival, they were so supportive and really made a difference to enable her to settle and become very content and happy. Probably as happy as she ever has been. Wonderful."

"The staff are very good, caring, kind, respectful and professional but at times there seems to be too few in numbers, which can lead to mishaps. There is a shortage of stimulating activities, particularly in memory lane or appears to be. Overall, it provides a good standard of care."

"We had responsibility of care of a friend who was admitted to Collingtree in June 2011. he had poor mobility but was of sound mind. She settled into life of "care" and was always very appreciative of the way she was helped and treated. The staff became her "friends". She had no immediate family but had many friends who were able to visit whenever they wished. She was able to have her own telephone and television in her room. She always said "I'm as happy here as I could be other than in my own home""

"My wife stays in the home for a little less than 4 weeks before her condition worsened far more quickly than had been anticipated. Nevertheless, during her stay, I made many visits and found the attention, care, compassion and friendliness to be most exemplary. All of the above attributes were extended to me in the fullest way. I was and am highly grateful to everyone at the home at the utmost level."

"I met the management team on several occasions and found them to be kindly, listening people who answered my questions. I viewed all the facilities twice and met some of the staff all of which gave a very favourable impression During May, I have made daily visits and observed the care and attention given to residents. I have confidence that my wife is in good hands."

"My father has been living in Collingtree since November 2015, and has throughout his stay been treated with respect, dignity, friendliness and most importantly care. All staff and management take time to get to know their residents and their relatives which makes for professional and knowledgeable experience for all. The food is of the highest standard with meals cooked on premises daily. Has this home a fault? well Barchester homes do charge at the top end of care home prices so therefore expectation in some areas can be difficult for the staff to meet, overall, I would still pay the costs to have my father an extremely comfortable life in this wonderful environment."
