Activities at Dudwell St Mary Care Home
Our activity coordinator provides our home with a fun-packed weekly programme to engage all residents. Past activities include bread making, pottery, knitting, and card making. Not only do we run regular exercise programmes for the residents but we also have our regular entertainers come in to entertain our residents and their families. The activity coordinator visits residents on a one-to-one basis, for a chat, manicure and hand massage. The activity co-ordinator said "Residents love the one-to-ones and especially enjoy the manicure and hand massage, as not only is it stimulating but it boosts their confidence and pride in their appearance.''
Linda Lawes
My Name is Linda and I am one of the Activities Co-ordinators at Dudwell St. Mary care home.
I joined Dudwell St Mary in April 2008 as a Housekeeping Assistant and later became the Head of Housekeeping. In 2018 I then became an activities co-ordinator where I brought lots of new exciting ideas to the role.
I am passionate about my role within the home and aim to bring a smile to all our residents’ faces through different types of activities. My personality is bright and bubbly so aim to share this each day at work.
As I gather the residents likes and dislikes if you would like to come and chat with me about your family member please contact the home to arrange.

Life at Dudwell St Mary Care Home
Dudwell St Mary's Employee of the Month for May
Residents, relatives and staff applauded as our Admin Assistant, Debbie, was named Employee of the Month for May.
Joao, Clinical lead at Dudwell, said: "We are lucky to have such a helpful, friendly and talented individual working as part of our team and I hope this award goes some way towards showing how much Debbie's hard work is valued. Debbie really deserved extra recognition this month as she went above and beyond the call of duty. Even with the disturbance of our WOW renovations, Debbie kept on top of all her work as well as taking over a lot of the administrator's work, all whilst keeping her happy and friendly demeanor. Debbie received nominations from all the departments and from relatives; this just goes to show how her work is appreciated by all."
Roy Sits in on Some Customer Service Training
Staff at Dudwell St Mary were delivering the WOW transformation customer service training, when Roy (a resident) asked if he could sit in on the training and participate.
He did just that and said that he really enjoyed the 2 hour event. Roy used to work in sales for Potterton Boilers, and offered some valid comments during the training.
St George's Day at Dudwell St Mary
The residents made swords, shields and flags for our St George's Day celebrations. The residents and staff took part in re-enacting some fun battles and all of them thoroughly enjoyed the event. They finished the day with St George's Day-themed cupcakes and tea.
Employee of the Month - March
Our March Employee of the Month prize goes to the dedicated and hard working, Joao Carvalho. Joao was congratulated and given his prize by our Regional Director, Jayne Holloway for his achievement.
Joao stepped up to the challenge of jumping into Happiness's General Managers shoes whilst she was away on her well deserved holiday. He balanced his roles of acting manager and clinical lead whilst being as efficient, calm and happy as always. We are very lucky to have such a asset in our team.
Spring has Sprung
Spring has truly sprung at Dudwell St Mary. The residents got stuck in creating floral displays for the home. The flowers looked lovely on the dinning room tables and the smell floating through the home was beautiful.
St Patrick's Day
Here at Dudwell St. Mary we have started having themed lunches. Our first was for St. Patricks Day. Leading up to the event the residents helped to make and put up themed decorations around the home. On the day they enjoyed a lunch of traditional Irish stew and for dessert marmalade and whiskey bread and butter pudding. Of course an Irish themed meal also wouldn’t be complete without a drink of Guinness!
