Activities at Friston House Care Home
Our activity coordinators are constantly working to stimulate our residents both mentally and physically by organising group and individual activities for every one within the home to participate in. We have regular outings in our mini bus to various attractions within the area and in the summer we like to take our residents to the seaside, where they can enjoy fish and chips by the beach. Our activity programme is just one of the important aspects of the care home and we try our best to arrange the activities that our residents will enjoy.
David Johnson
I am David, I have been working at Friston House since December of 2023.
I have a background in the visitor attraction sector as an events and activities manager, working with families to create engaging, fun activities that result in long-lasting memories. It is my belief that care home activities should be just as fun, engaging, inclusive to all and worthwhile. Either as a group, self-led or on a one-to-one basis.

Life at Friston House Care Home
Remembrance Sunday
We have recently commemorated Remembrance Sunday here at Friston House. We decided this year to make our own poppies to display around the home.
In addition to this, we were able to link up to Chatham Evangelical Church and they were happy to send us a service especially designed for our residents here at Friston!
Residents reminisced about their experience of the war and their childhood and spoke about what it was really like to live through a world war.
Hair & Beauty
Residents have been missing out on quite a few of their usual luxuries during the pandemic. One of these being having their hair done. In normal circumstances, we would have our hairdresser in twice a week cutting hair! Unfortunately, this hasn’t been able to happen for a few months.
Luckily for us, we have two qualified hairdressers who work here at Friston. One of them is our lovely Nicole, who is a carer, and the other is our host, Zena. These lovely ladies offered to cut our residents' hair in their spare time, and for this we are eternally grateful.
Feline Friend
Our residents have recently got an interactive cat. Many of the residents are finding it particularly comforting because it is taking them back to when they were younger and had cats of their own!
Residents were shocked that the cat purrs, licks its paw and even rolls over! We are currently holding a poll for the best name for our feline friend!
Talk Like a Pirate Day
Our residents had a great time celebrating ‘National Talk Like a Pirate Day.’
Residents got creative with the help of the activities staff. We coloured in pirate hats, masks and parrots, then cut them out and put them on our head and shoulders.
We had a go at some pirate phrases, which the residents found hilarious and, additionally, listened to all the pirate classics.
Recycling Week
Residents enjoyed coming together for recycling week, where we made things from recycled items, such as cat food boxes, washing detergent and food boxes. We made tissue boxes for the residents' bedrooms and vases for flowers. Residents picked out the colours and materials they wanted and worked alongside the Lifestyle Coordinator and volunteer, Pauline!
International Housekeeping Week
We wanted to take the opportunity to thank all the brilliant housekeeping and laundry staff here at Friston House.
