Activities at Glenroyd Care Home
Here at the Glenroyd our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. Everyone is different and gets pleasure from different things and here at Glenroyd we understand that and therefore try to provide a programme of activity that is tailored to individuals needs. We do this by gathering information and life history work and using that information to feed into our activities schedule. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Agata Prendota
Hi, my name is Agata Prendota and I am the activities coordinator here at Glenroyd. I have worked at Glenroyd since 2014 and in April 2022 transferred to activities. I developed a strong relationship with many of our residents and their families. This has helped me to create a tailored activities program focused on maximizing everyone’s wellbeing, independence, and social engagement.
It is my goal to create a stimulating environment that enables to provide imaginative, fun, and motivational activities that suit every interest and ability. My infectious enthusiasm and creative approach are the key to inspire our residents and staff to get involved in activities both within the home and in the local community.
I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in daily activities.

Life at Glenroyd Care Home
Daily lifestyle activities
Here at Glenroyd although we enjoy our daily group fun-filled activities, we also implement this in to doing daily lifestyle activities getting our residents involved with helping us set the table to the homes dining service, writing on our menu boards, collecting items from the laundry and all of the residents really enjoy getting involved and keeping busy.
Luncheon Club
Residents at Glenroyd enjoy their popular luncheon club. We hold a daily luncheon club in our light and airy conservatory hosting a fine dining experience. Residents, Tom and Frank both really enjoyed their experience before participating in a quiz with a nice pint of lager. They both enjoyed the company and view and said it was a very nice experience.
Residents enjoy a varied life enrichment calendar
The fun and laughter has continued at Glenroyd care home, in Blackpool as residents recently enjoyed trying bird box painting for the homes new garden project.
Residents at Glenroyd care home have enjoyed our engaging activities programme consisting of music therapy using their wireless headphones, arm chair exercise classes following different videos and a range of Halloween activities, cupcake baking, arts and crafts preparing for their socially distanced Halloween party, and Halloween bingo arranged by the homes’ activities team for residents within the home and local community groups virtually.
The homes activities coordinator, Chelsea Boyd supports the personal interests of residents so they can continue with their individual hobbies in an effort to celebrate life as often as we can. All group and individual activities offer a choice of mental, physical and spiritual activities of people we care for.
Bird Box Painting
Here at Glenroyd we are spending time over the next few months adding lots of colours to our garden. And we have started with decorating our individual bird boxes to display them on the walls outside.
All of the residents have already noticed how much something so simple makes a big difference. Everyone loves the new colourful bird boxes.
Halloween Cupcakes
On our memory lane community, we enjoyed getting creative by making Halloween themed cupcakes. The residents all enjoyed mixing and then scooping the mix into the cake cases and piping the icing on. The cupcakes looked amazing and tasted even better,
Salt Dough Making
We took a few days to make salt dough decorations, once we baked them for 3 hours, we decorated them with different paints and glitters. The best thing about this activity, Anne said, was that it is nice to take the time to spend on one project over a few days watching it all come together.
It was a lovely experience for all.
