Activities at Henford House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in, as well as visits from PAT dogs, musicians and entertainers. We also host evenings such as our cheese & wine nights, pub evening, quiz nights and special occasions such as, Guy Fawkes, Easter and Christmas where we like to encourage relatives to come to. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Henford House is fun and active.

Debbie Phillips

Activities Coordinator

I joined Henford House in March 2014; after five and a half years of domiciliary care, this position became available at Henford and I decided that it would be great to do more of the fun things in life with residents! It is great here at the home; we get along so well and truly have some laughs. Residents have a wide range of activities to participate in each week, including armchair exercises, bingo sessions, singalongs, musical entertainment, pottery, manicures, celebrations and much more. It is very rewarding knowing that people are grateful for the work I've done when I go. Working here has also given me the opportunity to gain my Level 2 NAPA certificate.

Music Event in the Garden

Residents and guests at Henford House enjoyed an evening of musical pleasure with a live concert performance that took place at the home. Local band and relative of a resident at Henford “Big Mamma’s Bannned” performed a selection of summertime sounds across the decades in the garden area of the home.

Residents joined in with the singing, and clapped along as the band performed their finale song. Guests were invited to bring a picnic or indulge in some refreshments that were on offer including delicious BBQ treats for the performance on the manuicured grounds behind the home.

There was also a raffle and donation buckets with all proceeds going to Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

General Manager, Karen said, “Our residents and guests had a wonderful evening  singing along with the fabulous performers. We do our best to provide a wide range of activities and entertainment at Henford as part of the lifestyle enrichment programme for residents, and this was one of our favourites!”

One resident said “I haven’t heard some of these songs in many years. The classics never go out of style!”

Wild Wild West

Wild Wild West

Residents, relatives and staff enjoyed a Wild West-themed afternoon at Henford House.

The weather was perfect for the occasion to take place in the garden. The gazebos went up, hay bales were delivered, cowboy hats were worn and everybody got involved with the live country and western music, which was performed by Vanessa.

Halfway through the event, a BBQ and drinks were enjoyed by all, and then another set of music was enjoyed with a little bit of line dancing.

Quiz Night

Quiz Night
