Activities at Lethen Park Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Amanda McCarthy
We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends

Life at Lethen Park Care Home
An afternoon of smiles and laughter!
We had a great morning enjoying the BBC production of 'Anything Goes - The Musical'. Blissful songs and great performances had us all smiling, laughing and dancing!
Kindness in the community
We would like to give a big thank you to Terra Foras!
Adam and his team kindly donated their time today to come and visit Lethen Park to help get garden ready for our residents to enjoy with Summer coming.
We look forward to seeing you again and appreciate all your help to make our garden Summer ready!
Easter Sunday at Lethen Park
Residents had a great day celebrating with Easter Sunday. The day was filled with love, peace, friendship and plenty of chocolate!
We had a wonderful time looking for our eggs around the home, and it's safe to say we thoroughly enjoyed them after!
National Scrabble Day
The home was in high spirits as we celebrated the day in style by organising inter-home scrabble tournament which was great fun.
The day finished off with a Scrabble quiz and delicious afternoon treats, which brought smiles and laughter into the home.
Many of the residents take pleasure in playing scrabble and find it relaxing, they also enjoy making new friends along the way.
Home support Ukraine donations
Residents and staff from Barchester’s Lethen Park Care Home in Portlethen together with sister homes Highview House in Inverness, Kirkburn Court in Peterhead and South Grange in Monifeith, have been putting together care boxes to try to help ease the suffering of people affected by the war in Ukraine. One of the Lethen Park’s residents, James Gordon, who was awarded an MBE for his services to the military, voiced his concern at the terrible events unfolding in Ukraine and everyone got right behind him, only too happy to do their bit.
Desperately wanting to help in whatever way they can, staff and residents put their heads together to come up with a plan of action. Activities Lead at Lethen Park, Amanda Zglobis -McCarthy, whose grandparents are from Ukraine, landed on the idea of working with Scottish Preloved Baby Box, a charity that creates care boxes filled with essential items such as blankets, clothes and toiletries for people in need.
Easter Cards from the local community
We were delighted to receive these cards from Great western Nursery.
Thank you for the lovely visit and the beautiful cards.
