Activities at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home

Birthday Celebrations, 105!

This week here at Marriott we celebrated our wonderful resident Muriel reaching her 105th birthday!

Muriel had a balloon arch which was donated from a local company and we had our favourite entertainer Ryan Mac in to help celebrate Muriel.

It was such a wonderful day and such a privilege to celebrate such a wonderful and monumental occasion!

Jamboree in the Garden

Our residents here at Marriott will always find time to sit out in our lovely gardens and enjoy whatever is left of the summer sunshine.

We decided to really celebrate the last of the summer sun with a little Jamboree, including maracas and other acoustic instruments.

Our residents had such fun in the sun and who knew such rhythm too!

Namaste

Our residents had the pleasure of taking part in armchair yoga with the wonderful Jennifer.

The session is designed specifically to allow for the benefits of yoga to be delivered and enjoyed for all of our residents who might not be as mobile as they once were.

Our residents really enjoy this session and we really welcome Jennifer to our home, as she brings such a warm energy and a deep sense of relaxation.

Yoga is a great way to de-stress, be in tune with your body and really work all the muscle groups - even in a chair!

And exhale.......

Sing Song Along

Here at Marriott we had an amazing afternoon singing along with the wonderful Ryan Mac.

Our residents were toe tapping, swaying and even up and dancing to some of their favourite old tunes.

We recognise how much joy music can bring to our residents and a sense of freedom of movement, even more so when the songs are live with such talent and involve our residents singing along so brilliantly.

Who knew we had such a musical community!

National Allotment Week!

This week at Marriott House and Lodge we are celebrating our allotments. All of our green fingered residents are taking part in planting and tending to, all plant and seed life in our allotment here at Marriott House and Lodge.

Our residents really enjoy seeing the small section come to life with all sorts of different colours and scents. It's even more of a joy for residents who had never experienced an allotment previously.

This week highlights how important our green spaces are, not just for our environment and sustainability but also for our residents mental and emotional wellbeing.

Happy National Allotment Week!

And the Award goes to...

And the Long Time Service Award goes to....

Today we celebrate two of our wonderful team members here at Marriott House and Lodge who have over over 30 years experience within the Maintenance and Clinical Team between them.

These services at Marriott House and Lodge are vital to the smooth running of the home and both Matt and Rudo have shared so much with us for the last few years and we hope to continue to have them share even more in the future.
