Activities at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home
Remembrance Day
Residents and staff made poppy wreaths which were laid by our Resident Ambassadors during the National two minutes silence, a shower of Red poppy petals also floated down in memory of all those that we remember. The petals were gathered after and kept with the Remembrance Day display in the homes
For those Residents and staff that were unable to gather outside or watch from a window the event was also filmed live and this was steamed to the Televisions within the homes.
A Remembrance Day service was held after the national 2 minutes silence by our Volunteer Jean Collyer.
Kevin Card, a resident at the home said ‘I served in the Royal Navy and I was so proud to put my medals on and stand with everyone remembering those lost or injured in conflict.’
Imelda Rea, General Manager at Marriott House and Lodge Care home in Chichester said: “Today has been all about remembering those that have been lost or injured in conflicts. It is lovely to see all the generations coming together and never forgetting those that have paid the ultimate price for their country.”
Marriott House and Lodge Remember's
The residents and staff at Marriott House and Lodge have been busy preparing for Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day. A beautiful display has been made and over the coming days we will be holding a special service, laying a wreath in the garden and we will be standing side by side for the national 2 minutes silence to pay tribute to all those that we remember and thank everyone within the armed forces for all they do.
Remembrance Colouring
Marriott House and Lodge care home have created a lovely colouring page for Remembrance Day.
It could be coloured in and put in a window or displayed at your children's school or nursery. Great for after school activities and Cubs, Brownies, Scout groups etc. Please collect a copy from reception.
The Residents would love to see your creations so do email us a photo!
Volunteer of the Year
Jean Collyer was crowned as the national winner in the Volunteer of the Year category at the 2020 Barchester Care Awards, held virtually on 8th October.
The awards celebrate staff and volunteers who go the extra mile for the benefit of residents and patients living in Barchester care homes and independent hospitals.
More than 2,800 nominations were received from homes, residents, staff and relatives across the UK this year, which is nearly 1000 more than was received last year. Nominations were sent in by Barchester staff, but many more were also from residents and their families who have praised the fantastic care provided to their loved ones.
All entries have been of a very high standard, and Jean is thrilled to have been declared as the national winner!
