Activities at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Musica

Musica

On 15th January, we were delighted to host a Musica Workshop here at Marriott House & Lodge.

This meaningful music workshop uses music as a tool for reminiscence and includes a variety of activities, such as movement to music, singin, percussion playing, quizzes and live music performances. The workshops are designed to engage and stimulate, increase self-esteem and improve overall well-being. The key ingredient to achieving this is by making it fun!

The Sound of Music

The Sound of Music

On 11th January, we were joined by Becki Short, who put on another 'Music for the Mind' session. Becki provided an hour of musical stimulation through gentle warm ups and stretches, familiar songs and musical instruments.

Volunteer Appreciation Morning

Volunteer Appreciation Morning

Our volunteers are important to us here at Marriott House & Lodge. On Tuesday 18th December, we held a volunteer appreciation morning so that we could extend our thanks for all that they do.

Each volunteer was presented with a gift and card as a token of appreciation for all the time they give.

The volunteers undertake a variety of activities with the residents in the home, including weekly news discussions, poetry groups, and one-to-one sessions.

Nursery Visit

On Thursday 13th December, we were thrilled to invite the Teddy Wilfs Nursery School in for a morning of Christmas-themed arts and crafts, games and carols. We are hoping they will become regular visitors in the future!
