Activities at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home
Creative Talk
Penny from Creative Talks visited the home on Thursday 8th June at 11:00 a.m. This month's talk was entitled 'Summer Festivals Around the World' and took a look at Wimbledon and famous festivals with lots of summer music. Everyone was transported through time using interactive pictures, videos and music! The talk provoked lots of discussion and reminiscence.
The next talk will be on Thursday 6th July at 11:00 a.m., entitled 'An American Journey'. This talk takes a look at some of the sights, sounds and cultures in America.
Quiz Night
On Wednesday 7th June, we held our first quiz night for loved ones, staff members, residents and friends. The evening proved a huge success and will now become a regular fixture on the calendar. We would also like to extend a special thank you to Keith and family for producing the quiz and being quiz master on the night.
Seaside Week
Seaside Week has come to Marriott House and Lodge. Throughout the week, we organised a host of seaside-themed activities. It was great fun!
We got out the parachute and inflatables, enjoyed some sand art and stone painting during our arts and crafts afternoon and served up a fish and chip lunch as part of National Fish & Chip Day.
Residents also wrote a lovely poem entitled, 'A Day by the Sea'. You can read it by clicking here.
Community Bingo - May
Marriott House and Lodge continues to hold monthly community bingo sessions. May's session took place on Wednesday 24th.
Everyone is welcome to join us for these events. There are prizes to be won and refreshments will be served during the afternoon.
Day Trip
On Tuesday 24th May, the sun was shining, so a trip out in the minibus was enjoyed, with a stop at Goodwood for morning coffee and to take in the beautiful scenery - and then a stop to get some ice cream!
Flower Arranging
On Tuesday 23rd May, we held an afternoon of flower arranging in celebration of the Chelsea Flower Show!
Residents, visitors and staff joined together and made some beautiful flower displays, which are now on show for all to see around the home. There was lots of discussion about flowers and the beautiful gardens at Marriott House and Lodge.
