Activities at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Tayla Cornhill
Activities Lead
I began my career in care in 2017 and, aside from taking five years away to raise my family, I have dedicated my working life to the healthcare sector. Caring for others has always been my passion, and I feel incredibly privileged to support our residents every day.
What brings me the greatest joy is seeing our residents happy. I believe that every resident, regardless of their condition or abilities—whether they are independent and active or bed-bound and unable to communicate—deserves the same love, dignity, respect and opportunities for meaningful life enrichment every single day.
One thing I have always strived for in my role is to ensure our residents don’t simply feel like they are living in a care home, but that Marriott House feels like both a home and a place where every day brings the enjoyment, comfort and excitement of a holiday. My aim is to create experiences that bring smiles, encourage connection and ensure every resident feels valued, included and able to live life to the fullest.
Celebrating life at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home

Playground fun and reminiscing on happy memories!
Day's out are one residents favorite activities.
We took advantage off the good weather to take the residents on a trip to visit Florence Park making the most of the sunshine and spending time together.
The residents absolutely loved being on the wheelchair accessible swing, so many smiles and laughter!
We also treated ourselves to some lovely refreshments and ice cream. A delicious cuppa tea and a latte went down a treat! It really was a beautiful outing, filled with smiles, laughter and lovely memories, we will definitely be back again.

Keep moving!
It was wonderful to see everyone taking part with such enthusiasm, energy, and plenty of smiles.
Regular exercise helps improve strength, balance, flexibility, and overall wellbeing, and it's always more enjo#yable when we do it together.
A massive thank you to LV Rehabilitation for getting us moving, stretching and working all our muscles this week!
We had a fantastic session filled with fun, laughter and plenty of exercise. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed taking part, and it was wonderful to see so many smiles while keeping active.

A visit from the farm
The farm came to town, and what an amazing time we had!
From the tiny ducklings, sheep, goats, to the big donkeys, there was something for everyone to enjoy. The naughty pigs certainly kept us entertained as they truffled around looking for worms and happily dug up the grass!
It was a wonderful experience, and our residents absolutely loved meeting and spending time with all the animals. A huge thank you to Mill Cottage Farm Experience for bringing this fantastic experience right to our garden and creating such special memories for everyone.

A special day out

Sunshine, sea air, and a little adventure
We couldn’t resist making the most of this beautiful day, so we hopped in the minibus and headed to the seaside.
There’s nothing quite like a good coffee in hand and an ice cream by the coast to lift the spirits. Simple moments, great company, and memories made along the way.
Days like these remind us how important it is to get out, explore, and enjoy the little things.

70th wedding anniversary – a Platinum Anniversary!
This month we celebrated Gerry and Babs’s incredible 70th wedding anniversary – a Platinum Anniversary!
What an amazing milestone. Seventy years of love, commitment and memories together is something truly special. In fact, it’s such a rare achievement that you can’t even find a card with a “70” on it in the shops!
A special moment was watching Gerry read the congratulatory card from His Majesty The King and Queen Camilla, a wonderful keepsake to mark such an extraordinary occasion.
A huge congratulations to Gerry and Babs on this remarkable milestone. Wishing you both continued happiness and many more treasured moments together.

Summer Fete brings the local community together
Staff, residents, relatives and the local community came together at Marriott House & Lodge to enjoy a Summer Fete that was held in the home’s grounds on Saturday 11th July.
Marriott House & Lodge hosted a variety of activities throughout the day, including, tombola stall, live enternainment, hook the duck, human fruit machine, games, Zumba class, lucky deep, etc., which were enjoyed by everyone who came to the event.
Staff at Marriott House & Lodge made everyone feel welcome and were delighted to see different generations having fun together. Visitors enjoyed plenty of refreshments, prepared by the catering team, who were hard at work making sure that a great time was had by all – it really was a team effort!
Resident, Mary , said, “I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was surrounded by lots of great people, and the refreshments kept flowing. The weather was hot but lovley in the shade until we finished. Staff did a great job, not just on the day, but organising the event and getting everyone together.”

Festival of the Flowers at Chichester Cathedral
Festival of the Flowers – wow, what an amazing show!
Congratulations to the Chichester Cathedral and everyone involved in creating the flower displays. It was absolutely stunning and full of wonder at every turn. We loved spotting all the little butterflies hidden throughout the displays, and there were certainly some enormous strawberries in The Lady Chapel, they were almost too good to resist!
We took some of our residents along, and they absolutely loved every minute of it.
Thank you to everyone whose hard work, creativity, and dedication made this such a memorable experience and to our staff who volunteered to support the residents.

Trip to Brick Kiln Garden Centre

Joyful Easter weekend
We’ve had a wonderfully busy and joyful Easter weekend here at the Marriott House and Lodge Care Home.
Our celebrations began with a fun Hot Cross Bun tasting session, who knew there were so many different flavours to try! While we enjoyed sampling them all, the traditional ones still came out on top as our favourites.
Our weekly Cooks Corner group also got into the Easter spirit, creating some absolutely delicious homemade Easter treats, they didn’t last long!
Around the home, residents enjoyed getting creative by making beautiful floral displays, adding a lovely springtime touch for everyone to enjoy.
On Sunday, our amazing volunteer Jean led a very special Easter Church service which was warmly received by all who attended.
We rounded off the weekend on Monday by welcoming members of our community for a Special Easter Afternoon Tea. A huge thank you to our talented chef Mandy, who prepared a truly delicious spread that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this Easter so special for our residents, it was a weekend full of smiles, laughter, and lovely memories.

The games are underway!
To celebrate the start of the Commonwealth Games, our residents headed out into the garden for some fresh air, friendly competition and plenty of fun!
With the balls flying and the competition kicking off on the grass, Team Lodge took on Team House in a lively match that had everyone joining in. There was lots of laughter, cheering and great sportsmanship, making it a wonderful way to celebrate together.
Our residents thoroughly enjoyed every minute, and it was fantastic to see everyone getting involved, staying active and having so much fun in the sunshine.

Residents Bloom with Creativity in the Garden
Our residents recently enjoyed a delightful flower arranging session in the garden, making the most of the beautiful weather and the vibrant blooms around them.
Surrounded by nature, everyone had the opportunity to create their own unique floral arrangements while sharing stories, laughter, and conversation. The activity encouraged creativity, relaxation, and social connection, with each arrangement reflecting the individual style and personality of its creator.
Spending time outdoors in the fresh air added to the enjoyment of the day, promoting wellbeing and a sense of calm. It was wonderful to see so many smiles as residents proudly displayed their beautiful floral creations.
A lovely afternoon filled with friendship, creativity, and the simple joy of flowers in bloom.

National Volunteers’ Week
As part of National Volunteers’ Week, we would like to say a massive thank you to two very special people who make such a difference to life in our home.
Firstly, a heartfelt thank you to Father Richard, who regularly visits to deliver Holy Communion to our residents. Your kindness, faith, and dedication bring comfort, peace, and joy to so many.
We would also like to give a huge and heartfelt thank you to our wonderful volunteer, Jean. Jean is an absolute superstar who not only supports our residents but also brightens the days of our staff. Her kindness, dedication, encouragement, and appreciation mean the world to us all. She is a truly amazing lady who continues to care for and inspire everyone around her.
Thank you both for everything you do. We are incredibly grateful and so lucky to have you as part of our home family.

Celebrating VE Day
Everyone enjoyed the VE Day afternoon tea party. We had a lovely time, and the residents thoroughly enjoyed the sing-song along with some delicious cream scones and cakes.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped out and made the afternoon such a wonderful event — your support and kindness are truly appreciated.
