Activities at Meadowbeck Care Home

Residents showed there creative side as they enjoyed a craft afternoon making  poppy wreaths for our Remembrance display and a Remembrance Tree writing personal messages for the fallen, before joining the rest of that nation tuning into the televised service in the lounge or quietly remembering in the privacy of their own rooms.

They celebrated Armistice day with a lovely afternoon of Reminiscing with Residents sharing memories from times past from Mothers wash day and scrubbing their doorsteps to their favourite hairstyles using pipe cleaners, finished off to a lovely afternoon listening to hits from the war years with a cup of tea and delicious homemade cakes.

Residents enjoyed a craft afternoon creating something for the birds to have a little peck at in the garden when they visit with a song and to keep them fed during the autumnal months.

Residents enjoy getting together to listen to the all-time sing along favourites to name a few – Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye, Pack up your troubles, It’s a long way to Tipperary, Goodbye Dolly Gray,  Don’t sit under the apple tree.

 There was lots of laughter filling the room with clapping, toe tapping and entertainment as Residents showed off their dancing skills.

Staff and residents at Meadowbeck Care Home in Osbaldwick held a charity coffee morning on Friday 25th September to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Meadowbecks coffee morning was a big success – they managed to raise £60.00 and, most importantly, everyone had a lot of fun doing it!

The British charity provides financial aid, specialist healthcare services, and all different kinds of support to those living with cancer. The purpose of the coffee morning is to sit down with your friends and family and catch up with a nice cuppa for a good cause. The money raised will help Macmillan make sure no one has to face cancer alone.

Residents at Meadowbeck love a Bingo night and it is a firm favourite in the homes life enrichment programme.  It is the look of excitement as to who will shout ‘full house’ first, each session brings lots of laughter to their bingo sessions before enjoying refreshments and tasty treats.
