Activities at Mulberry Court Care Home
The team at Mulberry Court works hard to support and encourage residents to participate in both group and individual activities, based around their preferences and lifestyle choices. We take time to get to know each person, sitting with them and listening to them speak about their lives, interests, and aspirations. We have access to our own minibus so outings to nearby places of interest are available; for example local museums, art galleries, garden centres, and public houses. We also host themed evenings, such as 'Quiz and Meal-in-a-Basket', 'The Races (Greyhounds, Horses)', and 'Takeaway and Movie Night' that we also encourage relatives to come to. We believe lifestyle choices and activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, and it is essential that we help residents to have fulfilling and enjoyable lives.
Zoe Giles
Hi my name is Zoe I am the lead activities co-ordinator here at Mulberry Court, I started in January 2024 having previously worked at another care home on reception, however I started doing more and more activities with the resident’s there so when I got the chance to move across to a Barchester home and do the role of lead I took the opportunity.
I have always enjoyed organising and am usually the one in the family who brings everyone together and sorts things so I feel I have found my true calling!
I am so lucky to be able to say I love my job, no two days are ever the same, although every day is so rewarding and to know I have made a difference to someone is the greatest feeling whether that’s through a group activity or an individual room visit to even stopping and saying a few words to them.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Mulberry Court Care Home
Animal Therapy
Staff member, Tracey brought in her dog, Bailey, to visit for the afternoon, and residents, Margaret, Edith and Len got to hold her. We also took her to visit a few other less mobile residents.
Birds of Prey
Margaret & Joan enjoyed a day at the York Bird of Prey Centre. They were both delighted when they got the chance to handle the birds.
Easter Preparations
Staff helped residents to create personalised Easter bonnets in preparation for our Easter celebrations.
Relaxing in the Garden
Resident, Graham, enjoyed some fresh air in garden once the weather cleared up.
Afternoon Tea
We had an afternoon outing to our local tea room! The ladies enjoyed a selection of cake with their cuppa.
Cake Tasting Session
Our Catering Manager, Colin, made a selection of cakes for our cake tasting session.
