Activities at North Park Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at North Park Care Home
Residents enjoy Halloween cooking demo
Residents had a lovely time joining Chef Alex Connell from Vegetarian for Life for a Halloween-inspired virtual cooking demo.
Alex demonstrated how to prepare a few themed dishes, such as root vegetable tagine, roasted butternut squash mac-n-cheese, chocolate pots with piped biscuits and flapjacks.
Our residents were delighted to be a part of this lovely virtual culinary session by tasting the vegetarian dishes from the comfort of our home.
Residents enjoy a virtual reading and writing event
We had a great time joining journalist and novelist, Mike Gayle, for an intriguing virtual interview, during which he shared top tips for creative writing with our residents and read passages from his latest book, All the Lonely People.
We were thrilled to find out about Mike’s background, to understand what led him to become a writer and his creative process.
It was a lovely talk, enjoyed by all, especially by our keen writers at the home.
Residents enjoy a Virtual Cruise Experience
We had a lovely time joining Paul Hawkins and Lisa Richards from Unilever for an exciting Virtual Cruise experience.
Our residents were welcomed with mocktails as Lisa and Paul took them on a magical journey to 3 mystery destinations, which were uncovered after a few clues.
Paul demonstrated how to create a few of the local traditional dishes, which our residents had the opportunity to try too.
The event evoked lots of great memories and it was truly enjoyed by all.
Silver Sunday
North Park Care Centre had a blast celebrating Silver Sunday on October 3rd. Although the weather was against them for the intergenerational teddy bears picnic in the garden, staff brought some of their children in to the foyer of the home, with their favourite cuddly toys and the picnic was able to go ahead. There were smiles all round as staff and children remembered the contributions our residents have made to society throughout their lifetimes and were reminded of the importance of friends and how they can enrich your life.
Silver Sunday started in Westminster in 2012 and since then has gained widespread support. The aim is to turn it into a national day matching Mothering Sunday and Fathers’ Day, establishing it in the national consciousness as a day when we think about older people and help them.
Neil Baird a resident at the home, stated: “I had never heard of Silver Sunday before today but I have had such an enjoyable time I hope the children can come back soon so we can do it all over again.”
Wine not? Residents join virtual tasting
We had a lovely time joining Hospitality Manager, Christophe Noel and special guests Lee Isaacs DipWSET and Nick Parker from Unity Wines and Spirits – as they introduced us to wine tasting techniques, the history of wine and wine making, as well as consumer attitudes.
Our residents had the opportunity to try a variety of wines from sparkling and white to rose and red, alongside a selection of delicious treats.
It was a wonderful experience, enjoyed by all.
Tending to the pond
North Park resident, Trevor prior to moving into the home took pride in maintaining his garden and garden pond and used to spend hours tending and cleaning it. Since joining us, Trevor has been able to continue with his hobby and passion and is often found in the homes garden tending to our small pond and just enjoying being outdoors.
