Activities at Ochil Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Hi, I’m Patrycja and am very excited to be a part of the amazing team at Ochil.
I have been working as an Activities Co-ordinator for the last 2 years, always making sure that the programme of activities and events provide a source of fun and laughter and helps each resident to live their life to the full. Please do feel free to come and be part of it with your loved ones

Life at Ochil Care Home
WW2 talk with Blenheim Palace
Ahead of Armed Forces Day, we were transported back in time for a World War II themed talk and tour of Blenheim Palace, hosted by Antonia Keaney, the Palace’s social historian and author.
Entitled ‘Evacuees and Espionage,’ Antonia’s wartime themed talk focused on how the Marlborough family, estate staff and the Palace itself played a full and energetic part in the war effort.
The talk and tour told the story of how the Palace prepared for the worst, survived the onslaught of 400 boys being evacuated to Blenheim and kept the secrets of MI5.
It was a lovely experience, enjoyed by all.
Residents enjoy tour of Hereford Cathedral
We had a lovely time joining the team from Hereford Cathedral for an exciting virtual session.
We enjoyed a glimpse of this spectacular building and its treasures in a series of short pre-recorded videos. From the stunning gardens which lead down to the River Wye, to the Mappa Mundi and Chained Library.
It was wonderful to learn more about the history and beauty of Hereford Cathedral.
Floristry fun
Staff and residents at Ochil were treated to an interactive virtual floristry masterclass courtesy of Master Florist, Michal Kowalski, from Blooming Haus.
Blooming Haus started with a small pop-up shop in Chelsea. They have since blossomed spectacularly on to the floristry scene as ‘floral engineers’, carving themselves an outstanding reputation as one of the UK’s most innovative floral design studios.
Keeping fit together
We are trying to keep as active as possible while keeping things fun here, we all joined in for some exercise games with balloons and bowling and we got a little competitive, it was great fun for all residents involved.
Residents enjoy virtual concert
We were lucky enough to have Live Music Now Scotland provide us with a virtual concert playing some Scottish classics as well as traditional harp playing. Thanks again to Live Music Now we look forward to having you again.
Saying goodbye
This month we said goodbye to our head housekeeper after 12 years of service! Carol will be truly missed by all here at Ochil, we couldn’t let her leave without a party from all the residents, it was a great afternoon for all wishing carol good luck on her new ventures.
