Activities at Ochil Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Residents enjoy Halloween party

Residents and staff at Ochil enjoyed a Halloween party, celebrating with treats including cakes, chocolate and smoothies.  Everyone enjoyed listening to music which played in the background as they reminiscence about how they celebrated Halloween as children.  Everyone had a wonderful afternoon!

Residents stay connected in Winter months

Residents are overjoyed at Ochil care home in Perth, as Barchester Healthcare has implemented a designated visiting room for residents to continue to spend time with their loved ones for the autumn and winter seasons in addition to the outdoor visiting that has been on offer for those able for many months.

Balancing resident wellbeing and safety is at the forefront of Barchester Healthcare’s thinking and they understand how important it is for residents and their family and friends to be able to spend time together in the safest way possible.

Fun in the home

In and around our home we have our physio back in helping keep our residents fit and active, we are making the most of the garden space when we can, having fun with making up and trying out our new boxes of jigsaws, and holding virtual church services for our residents to attend.

Family visits

The residents have still been getting some great visits with family and friends, unfortunately the visiting has been moved back to outside visits, however the cold weather hasn’t stopped all the happy faces, recently pets have been allowed to visit their loved ones again, we had our resident Toms dog Brodie in to see Tom. Tom and Brodie were so happy to be reunited, Brodie’s tail wouldn’t stop wagging and Tom was smiling the whole time, it was a great visit.

Colin's concert

We were lucky enough to have been treated to a concert by one of our residents Colin, we had some singing from the 50s and 60s, all the residents that joined us had a great afternoon singing and dancing along and even the staff had a great time joining in. It was really great of Colin to get up and preform for his fellow residents and lift their spirits, it left everyone who attended in a great mood full of smiles and chat, we finished the afternoon with cake and cups of tea.

Home receives community gifts

We have been lucky enough throughout the pandemic to receive such lovely things from the public, this time we have had some lovely handmade/ hand painted gifts dropped off to us from a lady, It consisted of jewellery trinkets, coasters, wall displays, pouches, purses and small bags. The residents loved all the handmade gifts, one of our residents commented they couldn’t wait to try out their new purse at the shops.

We were also lucky enough to be donated lots of brand new jigsaws puzzles, from 100 pieces to 1000 pieces, the residents have been having fun trying out some of the jigsaws and making up the pictures.
