Activities at Overslade House Care Home
Our activities team is dedicated to organising a variety of events and activities and adapting them to suit the capabilities of those we support. Our goal is to improve quality of life by providing activities that are tailored to residents' own interests.
At Overslade House, we encourage local people and businesses to participate, as well as our staff and relatives, in order to keep them involved as part of a wider community. We strive to enhance the quality of both mental and physical stimulation through weekly minibus excursions, PAT dogs, quizzes, Zumba classes, arm chair line dancing, musical entertainers, pamper sessions and much more.
We definitely have something for everyone!
Julie Bateman
Hi, my name is Julie, and I'm the lead Activities Lead here at Overslade House. I've been an entertainer for over 25 years which has given me a great foundation for meeting people from various backgrounds, and has also helped nurture my social skills.
I love animals, and have two Dachshunds of my own who, like me, love meeting new people. I'm looking forward to bringing them in to meeting all our lovely residents here at Overslade.
I'm a bit of a social butterfly and enjoy visiting National Trust locations, attending the Theatre, singing and dining out. Over the years I've even been an 'extra' on TV!
Living life to the full is my motto, and I wish to instil this in all our residents, whatever your ability there is something new to learn or try. Life is for enriching and enjoyment. I look forward to getting to know you and your loved ones. We are always open to new ideas, if you'd like to contact me please call the home on 01788 522577 or email me direct on overslade.activities@barchester.com - New entertainers always welcome.

Life at Overslade House Care Home
Animal Party
We have an animal party twice a year here at Overslade House. Residents get to enjoy and hold a variety of animals, ranging from rabbits and frogs to owls and tarantulas! This is enjoyed by residents, relatives and staff alike. Please come along to join in the fun!
Resident Ambassador
Anne came to Overslade House for 2 weeks respite care in July 2018 and has not left! She is now a permanent resident. Anne said she picked Overslade House because, “it is a beautiful home with friendly and attentive staff." Anne would love to tell you more about life at Overslade House. Please pop into our home and ask a member of the admin team if you would like to meet Anne for a chat over a cup of tea.
Arts & Crafts
We host monthly arts and crafts classes at Overslade House. Residents love to get messy and creative, getting involved in lots of different projects. This time, we were making owl pictures with the support of our volunteers.
Macmillan Coffee Morning
Staff and residents at Overslade House held a charity coffee morning on Friday 28th September to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Overslade’s coffee morning was a big success – they managed to raise £115.00 and, most importantly, everyone had a lot of fun doing it!
The British charity provides financial aid, specialist healthcare services, and all different kinds of support to those living with cancer. The purpose of the coffee morning is to sit down with your friends and family and catch up with a nice cuppa for a good cause. The money raised will help Macmillan make sure no one has to face cancer alone.
Fun at the Farm
Residents were very excited to take a trip to our local farm. Whilst at the farm, we were able to meet a very friendly horse. Residents loved it so much that we are going to make this trip a regular occurrence, so all residents can experience it. After our trip, we decided to use our eggs to bake cakes for our local school to enjoy. The school was very pleased to receive their delicious treats
Baking Fun
Residents love to bake, so we have been baking a lot of delicious treats recently. This time, we decided to make some lovely chocolate cakes with vanilla frosting on top. Residents loved them so much that they wanted a second helping – luckily we always bake extras!
