"My brother has been a resident at Overslade House Care Home for 3.5 years. From his arrival to his end-of-life care, he has been treated with kindness and respect. Managers, nurses, carers, housekeeping, cooks- all staff are warm, and helpful and make time to listen to relatives as well as residents. We have considerable experience in care and nursing homes, and this by far is one of the best we have found."

"I wanted to ensure that I posted a review of my recent experience of Overslade Care Home, Rugby, whilst my mum was a resident. My mum did not relish the thought of going into a care home for her palliative care, but agreed to do so on the basis that if she did not like it, she would then be transferred home. Within 3/4 days mum settled in very well and adjusted to the environment. The reason for this being that the home itself was lovely and very welcoming from meeting the Administrator on reception at the time, who stayed late to allow mum to be admitted. What can I say about the nursing care? Each and every one of the staff, whether it be the nursing or care staff were nothing short of amazing. They looked after my mum like one of their own and the way they spoke so gently to her, it was just so lovely. So gentle and reassuring that she was not a bother. In her final hours, they were so kind to all the family and most of all my amazing mum. Thank you isn't enough."

"The care my mother received in the 10 months she was there was good, both medically and personally. The bedsores she had when she arrived there, improved greatly with their attention and care. The care and compassion we received as a family during the last weeks of my mother's life was something we will never forget, enabling us to be with my mother as a family during this time."

"My father was only a resident here for a short time, but myself and all the family were very pleased with the standard of care that he received. The care home was an inviting place, very clean, tidy and modern. The staff were always very pleasant and took their time when caring for my father. "My mother was taken into care 6 weeks after having an unforeseen and devastating stroke leaving her dependent on others for support. For the best part of 5 months, the staff and management of Overslade House did outstanding work to make her time there as comfortable and as pleasant as possible. At no time did she look unsettled or distressed and they gave her opportunities to join in with the more suitable activities. At the end of life, she was treated with respect and the staff and management offered sympathy and support throughout. Thank you Overslade for all you have done."

"My 86 year old mother arrived at Barchester Overslade House last October. She was so fragile and frail, weighing only 6 stone, after spending 3 weeks in hospital, within days she started to pick up, joining other residents in the day room, she soon got her appetite back with such a great menu that is offered every day, there is always something she likes. My Mum needs 24-hour care, she has dementia and is totally incontinent, she is well looked after, the carers are lovely and genuinely care about the residents. She is happy and now weighs over 7 stone and joins in the activities that are planned daily."

"It’s difficult for me to find words to sum up the strength and courage of the staff in Overslade Lane Barchester Care Home during these really challenging times. They have cared for and nursed my mum through the Coronavirus, who has been so poorly on top of already being very unwell with complex underlying health issues and dementia. They have done it with grit and determination and smiled through the toughest of times. Our family are just so grateful for the contact they have maintained with us during these heartbreaking weeks. Saying thank you doesn’t seem to be enough. You’re all amazing."

"My mum recently took very ill, and we were allowed to see her. Along with the paramedics and nursing staff, we made the difficult decision for Mum to be end of life nursed at the home. I cannot thank the staff on duty that day enough - the kindness shown to the family, and most of all Mum, was incredible. The particular kindness from a member of staff as I left (due to C19 visiting quota), was incredible. She went above and beyond to comfort me and offer support, and I'll always be grateful. I left Mum in capable nursing hands, and went home to wait for the inevitable bad news. It didn't come - four weeks later Mum is still with us, and going from strength to strength. Turning her regularly through her deep unconsciousness, then gently encouraging her to drink, and then to eat, has allowed Mum to fight another day! Every effort is made for me to stay in touch with Mum - I speak to the home or the staff every day, and the updates are priceless. What a wonderful place, I am so grateful."

"My aunt was a resident at Overslade for 7 months from December 2019 to July 2020. When admitted she was made to feel very welcome and immediately felt at home in her lovely room within the quieter nursing unit. At all times during her stay, she was treated with great care and kindness whilst allowing her to remain as independent as possible whilst her health (both physical and dementia) deteriorated. During this difficult time of the COVID-19 pandemic the staff and management continued to uphold the values and high standards of care. Many thanks to the nursing and care staff who provided loving, caring and professional end of life care."

"I have been in this home just over 2 years and I am extremely happy here. I find the staff very caring and good to all the residents. I am particularly impressed with their handling of the Covid crisis, as they have had built pods to enable us to receive our visits. This is a very well run home the management, in particular, are on the ball."

"Overslade House is the third nursing care home my mother has been in over the last 6 years, so I have experience of nursing home care and I can honestly tell you that the past three years since my Mum has been in Overslade House have been the best and she has been far happier and well cared for. My mother suffers from Lewy body dementia and many other medical issues and the care provided has really been excellent. They have nursed her through pneumonia and many other ailments with tender care and attention. I would certainly recommend Overslade House care home to others. Although, since COVID I have only been able to visit my mother in the 'Pod' they have made it possible. Prior to that when we were allowed to visit they always made me feel welcome and involved me in her care, keeping me updated at all times. The manager is really exceptional and is always available to talk when you need to discuss any issue. The staff are also incredible and they are always happy to support."

"Mum has been at Overslade for over a year. Although I couldn't see her until March 2021, I felt she was safe and well cared for. Mum's room is clean, comfortable and homely. She enjoys the food and eats well. This is the first place she's been, including 2 hospitals, where her weight and general wellbeing have improved rather than deteriorated. There are staff members who she's become very fond of and who are loving towards her. I'm grateful to Overslade for their care and commitment during the pandemic. It was our good fortune that Mum was transferred there from hospital."

"I visited Overslade on Sunday for the event with the Bikers and local singer (proud grandad!). It was a really hot day but had such a friendly atmosphere. The quality of the outside of the home was really well kept and beautiful plants making the whole area look well cared for. I spoke with a lady whose husband is a resident and she hadn't wanted to come that day, but as always when she made the effort she felt so boosted and the music bought back some very fond memories, that she shared with me. I didn't know that there were events there and could really see how much of a difference it made to both the residents but also their relatives. It was nice to see the staff so genuinely engaged and had a really inclusive feel - I've never been anywhere like residential care before but it was actually a really positive experience and I'll be recommending it to my friends. Please let me know if you do any more events as I'd like to bring my wife."

"My mother's 80th birthday was a day to remember. From all of the staff involved... a massive thank you! Their 1st party at the home since covid started and we could not have wished for a better day. "Excellent stay for a very dear friend of mine after a 4 week stay in hospital. We visited the home first and were very impressed with the friendliness and cleanliness of the home. The manager and all her staff were amazing and couldn't do enough to make my friends stay enjoyable. I would recommend Overslade House to anyone."

"Mum had 3 separate stays with Overslade. She was always happy to be with you she had such exemplary care and you showed such genuine love and support to mum and her family. She wanted to die at home or Overslade but not in hospital and she died with you surrounded by her family. We miss her dearly but thank you for all her care and compassion especially at end of life."

"It is only now that I put pen to paper, following the death of our beloved mum in October 2021. After looking after mum in her bungalow for several weeks she deteriorated and was admitted to the nursing home. There was no double that mum was loved and cared for by all the staff. Standards of care were second to none! The staff were very friendly, professional and listened to mum and family. Management Fantastic!"

"I would definitely recommend this home for anyone considering a loved one to be in nursing care. The best care was given to my mum and the support given to ourselves while my mum is here on palliative care really is appreciated. The staff are amazing and the hospitality shown to us all by the staff and management was first class. The home is very beautiful and is very clean and tidy. You can personalise the rooms with bedding curtains, flowers cushions etc which made the transition from her home to hospital then to care a little less traumatic for everyone concerned as it was things from home for our loved one and as for the home manager nothing is a problem and as a relative, this management team were amazing in answering any concerns we had in relation to mums condition. Although we didn’t have much to do with other parts of the house I can honestly say Memory lane is beautifully fitted out with pictures and memorabilia and provides top-class care for a loved one."

"My father came to Overslade in Feb 2021 after being in the hospital for six weeks. He was so frail on his arrival; we believed he had not long to live. But the brilliant team at Overslade looked after him and built his strength up, and for a time, he became more like my dad used to be. They cared for and loved him, which gave us great comfort and supported us, the family, in his final few weeks. We thank everyone at Overslade House."

"Mum moved into the home in January 2022 and stayed there until her recent death. I've been so impressed with the quality of the care received; although bedbound, she was always happy, contented and positive, and despite escalating health issues, never received anything but efficient and kind care. The management and admin team are great too; anything we asked of them, the answer was always 'yes'. Thank you to the whole team."

"We alwats felt that Mum was as happy and content as she could have been, given the nature of her illness and disability, and that was a great comfort to us all. "I find Overslade House perfect for my sister. The care she gets from the staff and nurses is excellent. Her accommodation is also very good, well kept and cleaned daily. Another important issue for me is health and safety in and around the building which also has a very high standard. Finally, the food which I consider important, this also comes with high standards."

"Visitors to Overslade only get a very brief snapshot of the tireless work undertaken by the staff. It is impossible to please all of the people all of the time. Nevertheless all the staff over Overslade undertake without complaint one of the most demanding jobs on the planet - that of looking after the welfare of others not so fortunate. I am extremely grateful for their tireless dedication."

"I needed 9 days of respite care while my wife was away. Everything about Overslade suited my requirements perfectly. My room was spacious and comfortable. The food was superb. The staff were all happy and eager to provide high-quality care and service. I was encouraged to socialise and was able to sit with some of the more lively residents at meal times. To sum up - I spent a most enjoyable 9 days of respite care, it far exceeded my expectations."

"My first impressions of Overslade House were very favourable, clean, homely, well laid out and decorated. Mom, since moving there, is very settled, and the staff operate in a personal, friendly and caring manner. They laugh and joke with both residents and visitors alike, creating a fun, pleasant environment. Personalising Mom's room was not a problem even with wall-mounted items. Food is cooked onsite. The gardens are well-kept. There's a lovely free cafe, and the manager is always happy to help personally."

"Our very good friend moved to Overslade House Care Home after a serious fall at home. We can't thank the management and staff enough for their continuous outstanding care and commitment, dignity and respect that always shown. Absolutely beautiful and warm and welcoming care home. The home manager and deputy manager and all staff really do go above and beyond to deliver the very best care and service. Always such a lovely calm and happy atmosphere. The activities team offer an excellent variety of day-to-day activities always tailored around the interests of the residents. All meals and foods well prepared and excellent, always a very lovely variety. We would very highly recommend Overslade House to anyone who is looking for the very best respite or permanent care and support."

"During the past few years, my neighbour has been a respite resident at Overslade House. She has been welcomed and well cared for in preparation for returning home. Overslade House is well-run with caring and friendly staff and management who do their best to help residents. On her last visit, they were so kind to find her a room at very short notice as she had broken her wrist and could not cope on her own at home. They have been friendly, businesslike, efficient and caring and I know she appreciated their welcome and care greatly."

"We have two of our relatives in Barchester Overslade House Care Home. In the time we have been visiting, the care offered to both our relatives has been exemplary and far beyond the treatment they received in hospital prior to their stay. The management and staff are polite, informed and attentive and have improved the health and well-being of both my brother and sister-in-law. The past six months have been traumatic for all our family but we have had the majority of the stress lessened by the consistent care and support from the home. I provide this feedback from an informed point of view having been employed in health and care settings for over forty-five years, laterally of twenty years as a CQC inspector."

"I have resided at Barchester Overslade House Care Home for one week, I did not know what to expect. On arrival, I was welcomed with a friendly smile and taken to my room. From the first day, a wide range of staff have introduced themselves and enquired of my likes and needs. Nothing has been too much trouble. Care has been taken to assist me around my disabilities. As I was four days post-op on arrival, I was quite weak. In less than a week, I feel much better physically, mentally and emotionally. This is all down to the excellent care I have received from all the staff day and night. Even though I am a younger resident receiving respite, I have witnessed residents receiving care and kindness. I am so impressed by the care given to me, if and when I need care after my second operation, I will not hesitate to contact Overslade House."
