Activities at Reigate Beaumont Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising and delivering a fun mix of activities and events chosen by the residents here at Reigate Beaumont. We work closely with the local community who get involved in all kinds of activities within the home. We enjoy all kinds of events which could be anything from trips out to local places of interest in our minibus or visits from entertainers and musicians, spending time in our beautiful gardens, or providing great activities for the mind body and soul. We liaise with local churches and regularly hold multi-congregational services at the home.
It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and invite them to our regular events. We also have a variety of volunteers who really enjoy spending time within the home too.
Karyn Borngräber
Each resident is unique and as an Activity Coordinator, I aim to create meaningful activities whereby residents can feel at home. From quizzes to games, stretch classes to flower arranging, reminiscing to enjoying our beautiful gardens. From musicians to Namaste sessions, outings, intergenerational and community involvement – a balanced activity program of body, mind and soul allows each resident to feel as if they have purpose and meaning in their lives. As well as sitting and having meaningful one to one engaged conversation or holding your loved ones hand – can allow a resident to feel that Reigate Beaumont is their home. With a background as a Healthcare Assistant, we are taught to provide person centred care. This has helped me to provide person centred activities.

Life at Reigate Beaumont Care Home
Reigate Park Church visit
Residents at Reigate Beaumont care home recently had a lot to talk about when Reigate Park Church visited. Sue and her team from Reigate Park Church hold communion once a month at the home for the residents. This is when a few more residents joined in and they realised that they had known each other for years. The residents had in previous years attended services at Reigate Park Church and it was such a lovely surprise to see one anther again. There was lots to talk about!
Having a Laugh!
We love watching our residents interacting and sharing a laugh. Especially when doing a photo shoot! Residents had a great time taking photos at our theme wall. As you can see by the photo there was alot of laughing going on. It is moments such as these when we see how much fun our residents are having – that we dearly cherish.
Intergenerational Activities
Students from Reigate Grammar School interacted with residents after a bit of a sing-along. Students benefit just as much as residents do and as you can see from the photo, there is a lot of discussions going on. Reigate Grammar students visit nearly every week and there is always an interesting topic to discuss, song to sing or a theme to their visits.
Barchester's 30th Birthday
Residents, their families and friends all celebrated with staff and professionals at Barchester’s 30th Birthday celebrations. It was a fantastic afternoon and everyone was invited. The pianist played while everyone mingled and enjoyed delicious foods prepared by the fabulous hospitality team. Stunning photographs were taken in the photo booth, a joyful singing of Happy Birthday at the cutting of the cake and there was Prosecco all round! The highlight of the afternoon was the International Dance performance put on by the diverse and multicultural talented staff. This included a Nepalese, Polish, Indian, Chinese and Philippine dance with costumes and music. It was spectacular to watch!
Veterans attend Council’s Remembrance Sunday Service
Five of the residents at Reigate Beaumont are Veterans and they were extremely honoured to be invited by Reigate & Banstead Borough Council to attend the Council’s Remembrance Sunday Service in Redhill on Sunday 13th November. The service took place at the Shaw’s Corner War Memorial in Redhill and was attended by The Mayor of Reigate & Banstead, Cllr Frank Kelly and Councillors of the Borough. It was a memorable morning starting off with the welcoming hospitality of The Hatch, in Redhill where our residents could stay warm while waiting for the proceedings to begin. Once the program started, the residents were able to have a fantastic view of the service. “Front row seats”, as one resident commented with a smile. Over the past few months, the residents have been getting to know one another and exchanging stories about where they served. Two of the residents even served in the same regiment at one time. It is wonderful to hear the residents recall significant times in their lives such as when they served their country – sharing these memories with other residents and staff. When asked after the service today about how he felt, William a resident at Reigate Beaumont, said: “I haven’t been able to attend a service like this for a long time and to be able to come today was really special. I feel very fortunate.”
Fireworks, Hotdogs & Mulled Wine
We had a lovely evening celebrating Bonfire Night. Family and friends were invited and watched from the warmth of the home while a magnificent display was put on outside. We made great use of our wonderful gardens and was able to provide a fabulous display of fireworks, plus everyone enjoyed hotdogs and mulled wine - The home was full of family, friends and happiness!
