Activities at Reigate Beaumont Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising and delivering a fun mix of activities and events chosen by the residents here at Reigate Beaumont. We work closely with the local community who get involved in all kinds of activities within the home. We enjoy all kinds of events which could be anything from trips out to local places of interest in our minibus or visits from entertainers and musicians, spending time in our beautiful gardens, or providing great activities for the mind body and soul. We liaise with local churches and regularly hold multi-congregational services at the home.
It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and invite them to our regular events. We also have a variety of volunteers who really enjoy spending time within the home too.
Karyn Borngräber
Each resident is unique and as an Activity Coordinator, I aim to create meaningful activities whereby residents can feel at home. From quizzes to games, stretch classes to flower arranging, reminiscing to enjoying our beautiful gardens. From musicians to Namaste sessions, outings, intergenerational and community involvement – a balanced activity program of body, mind and soul allows each resident to feel as if they have purpose and meaning in their lives. As well as sitting and having meaningful one to one engaged conversation or holding your loved ones hand – can allow a resident to feel that Reigate Beaumont is their home. With a background as a Healthcare Assistant, we are taught to provide person centred care. This has helped me to provide person centred activities.

Life at Reigate Beaumont Care Home
Friendly game of pool
It’s so lovely when residents become friends and then challenge each other to a friendly game of pool. We often have residents enjoying a game of pool, sometimes staff join in and take on the reigning champion! Great activity for the winter with early evenings approaching.
Barchester Care Awards - We're Winners!
We are proud to announce that we have been awarded Garden of the year at this year’s Barchester Care Awards.
Thousands of nominations were received from our homes and hospitals across the UK. All entries were a very high standard and we are over the moon to have been named National Winner, beating hundreds of other nominees.
We joined winners from across the UK at a special awards event on the 12th of October to celebrate our achievement and to receive our award.
Well done and huge congratulations to everyone at Reigate Beaumont Care Home
Harvest Festival Cheese & Wine
Residents enjoyed a Harvest Festival Cheese & Wine social this month. We invited everyone’s families, staff and our General Manager, Pramojil also attended. It was wonderful to see different residents and families engaging with each other. A big thank you to our Head Chef Roman for putting on such an amazing spread. It was such a success we will definitely be holding another!
Everyone loves an outing!
Residents enjoyed an outing on our mini bus to Epsom Downs Racecourse for a lovely morning picnic. Outings are a firm favourite in the home, especially while enjoying a lovely cup of tea or coffee. This particular outing was with a few of our gentleman residents that had fond memories of having visited the racecourse before. Five wise ole men, upon an autumn morn, looked out across a view, where horses had but worn.... What are they thinking...?
Dorking Museum & Heritage Centre Memory Box’s
During the month, we had a steady stream of residents and staff to look at the Dorking Museum & Heritage Centre Memory Box collection. It was interesting to hear from the residents about the wooden darning mushroom, wooden laundry tongs and the Brownie and Instamatic camera. Even Tania our hairdresser inspected a Pin-up Home Cold Perm box with one of our residents and Della our receptionist chatted to a resident about lovely recipes in an old Be-Ro Home Recipes booklet. Staff engaging with our residents is always at the forefront of life here at Reigate Beaumont.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
During the Week of Mourning, The Mayor of Reigate & Banstead spent an afternoon with our residents in the lounge chatting about the Queen and the Royal Family. He brought along the Reigate & Banstead Borough Council Book of Condolence – numerous residents, relatives and staff were able to write in the condolence book for the Queen, which will eventually be sent to Buckingham Palace.
