"My brother has been at South Grange for 14 months. He has been treated well by the staff, any incidents are looked into and are resolved quickly. The staff contact me if they have any concerns over his health and medical assistance is sought through the GP. The recent refurbishment has made a big difference to the look and feel of the home."

"On the whole, I have no problem. Occasionally a lack of staff makes it difficult to pass things on. The new renovations are lovely but I have reservations re the new lounge next to the upper dining room. Residents can't be seen when left sitting, it's easy to forget they are there. The ladies still enjoy speaking to everyone who comes out of the lifts."

"I would like to express our gratitude to all the staff for the care given to my father in the 3 years he was a resident. The support given to us all as a family during those years has been exceptional. He was treated with respect and in the early days able to have a good relationship with the friendly staff. We know he was safe and well cared for which was very reassuring. He had a peaceful end in loving care for which we are all grateful."

"I can't find the words to express how good this care home is and how grateful I am of the care given to my father. My father is completely paralysed and requires constant care and attention to meet his needs and at South Grange all the staff and management have gone 110% to ensure he is comfortable and happy. In all the time that my father has been ill, there has been no other organisation that has attended to him in this way and they all just do it naturally here. They are real trailblazers and my dad has been blessed to be in their care. Heartfelt thanks to everyone at South Grange and the Barchester group. What amazing standards - totally unbelievable."

"Mum had been in South Grange for 22 months. During this time we could tell that she was well looked after. She was settled and had a lovely room, where she could have peace and quiet or venture out to join in with activities. The last three months, Mum's health deteriorated and it was during this time that the staff were even more caring and attentive. We felt that Mum was in safe hands. Can't thank them enough for looking after Mum with such kindness and on the saddest of days looking after us too. Nothing was too much trouble."

"The care home was always spotless. All staff were friendly and welcoming. My mother was treated with the utmost respect and dignity at all times. In her last few weeks, the staff could not have done more to ensure she was comfortable and clean and made sure they looked after my father, my sister and myself. We could not have been happier with the care received."

"I have just spent this past week visiting my mum on a daily basis and was always given a lovely warm welcome from all of the staff I met this past week. You are always assured of a cheery smile and hello, we were always very well looked after during the visits with lovely lunches in the 'snug', to coffee/tea at breaktimes. The staff are delightful and most importantly my mum is very happy and settled."

"This is a first class care home in every respect. My dear mother has had superb care in this wonderful home for nearly 9 years. I have been able to visit her freely and enjoy the occasional meal with her in a well-appointed private dining room. The setting of this care home in the Angus Hills is idyllic and it would be hard to find more helpful and friendly staff. I enjoy visiting South Grange and always feel extremely welcome and at home. I could not have found a better care home for my dear mother. South Grange is absolutely first class on all parts!"

"A very welcoming and homely care home. Management are very approachable and very prompt in resolving any issues we had as a family. They seem a great team and all work together. The only problem we had as a family was the room not having any shower facilities which if they did have, would make showering residents so much easier."

"We feel lucky that our relative was in South Grange, where the wonderful staff did all they could do, for her and us. The care she received was a comfort to us. Ultimately, nobody wants to place a dear relative in a nursing home. But South Grange made us relax somewhat about having to. We had every impression that our relative was their priority and friend. Everything that could be done, was done by a dedicated and loving team of staff. I would and have recommended it to others, in fact, I'd go there myself as a resident if I needed care. A fabulous home run by dedicated, beautiful and caring staff. They made everything easier than it might have been and we are proud to tell everyone exactly where she was living."

"My father has lived in South Grange for the past eighteen months. He was slow to settle in after living independently. He is 95 years old and is mentally very astute. The care staff have always been very caring and supportive to all his needs. They encourage him to participate in the many activities on offer. His favourite is carpet bowls which is a daily event. My father speaks highly of the menu and the variety on offer. He also enjoys being resident of the day and being spoiled. The whole care team offer everything he requires."

"My mother has been a resident for approx 3 months. She was made to feel so welcome as were we, her family. We brought personal items which were put into her room, pictures, a clock, bedding, and things in her toilet from her flat, everything was done for my mum moving in. The staff are wonderful. A few weeks after moving in there was singing and dancing in the round room. One member of staff in particular, who my mum has got a soft spot for, had her up dancing with him. My mum's mobility has not been good of late, falling if she tries to get up herself. I had a tear in my eye while watching them dance. The meals are great, and Mum's appetite is back. What I love about South Grange is, that from the minute you set foot through the front door, it is like walking into a hotel lobby. it is so welcoming and homely. For me, it is how well my mum is cared for and she is happy. That for me is all I ask for, for her to be settled and happy."

"My brother and I managed to secure a short-stay respite care placement for our 90-year-old mum in Barchester South Grange Care Home after a week's stay in hospital, when we realised she needed 24-hour nursing care until she was well enough to return home. We extended this, as she was being so well-cared for, and decided that we couldn't provide the medical care she needed, so the only option was to give her the best chance in life by affording her continued care to meet her needs indefinitely. Initially, Mum didn't relish the idea but with encouragement from the wonderful staff from all departments, soon began to enjoy the company and some of the activities on offer. I can't speak highly enough of the management, nurses, carers and all staff who reacted quickly and efficiently re. any issues for our precious mum. Although quite a shy, quiet lady, she enjoyed the banter and close friendships with all staff. Their loving care and kindness for our mum and the family was exceptional. Thank you so much."

"I came along to visit my mum today and we went through to join in with the conga line which the activity ladies had organised. What a truly wonderful afternoon, such fun doing the conga through the home, out into the garden, then back to the round room for great music with singing and dancing. I just want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful care staff and most especially, the fantastic activity ladies who always go above and beyond to ensure everyone has fun. Mum has been in Barchester South Grange Care Home for eighteen months and after initially taking some time to settle in, now participates in most of the many varied activities."

"We moved my mum into the Barchester South Grange Care Home only twelve weeks ago. All staff, from the beginning of her stay, were mannerable and courteous at all times. Initially, Mum would not participate in activities but then after a lot of perseverance by the staff, she attended these on a daily basis. The staff continually kept me up to date with anything that related to Mum and when they were asked to do anything they couldn't have been more accommodating. Sadly, Mum passed away after the short stay but I can say that her time in the care home, after being housebound for two years, allowed a great and welcome change to her mood and allowed her the ability to involve herself with others and be outside which she loved. Since her passing, the staff have shown tremendous understanding and empathy. I would not hesitate to recommend South Grange Care Home."

"I just want to say a huge thank all the staff at Seven Archie's for taking care of my husband in a person-centred way. Recently, I came in and found two members of staff watching our wedding video online with him, this is what I call care. He seemed so settled and happy. The staff were in tears but that just showed how empathetic they are, it's not all about physical care but respecting the service user's image and personality prior to their current situation. My husband has been here for now nearly 4 years and I won't think of changing his care. This is the best team and they take time with their service users. To you all at South Grange Care Home, have a happy new year when it comes and thank you for caring for my husband without judging or limitations."

"My worst experience of “care” ever. There were issues from day one. Lack of and miscommunication between and with staff. Lack of dignity for my mum. She went for up to 9 days without a bath or shower. On occasion her nails were dirty, her clothes stained and creased and hair a mess. She lost her ability to stand unaided and can no longer walk. Staff thought it would be quicker to put her in a wheelchair rather than take the time she needed to get up and walk. There was not enough room in her toilet so used a commode in her room. Money went missing from her purse. Staff lied to our face. A complaint was made to the care commission. All 10 points/complaints were upheld but still, there were issues. The last straw was when mum waited over 40 minutes for the toilet. She buzzed, four staff came in and switched it off and left. I heard “You will have to wait, there are more than you here”. I heard this as was on the phone to my mum. She was crying and wet herself. She said she wanted to die. Disgusting!"

"My mother has been in South Grange Nursing Home until she passed away peacefully a few days ago. The care love and attention that she has been given since entering the home in 2016 till a few days ago was exceptional by all of the staff. The length of time she was residing here certainly showed how much she was loved and cared for. "My mother has been a resident at South Grange for one year. I chose this care home for her as she prefers modern facilities, however, she does refer to it as a 'hotel' due to the design of the building and the rooms, which are satisfactory and comfortable, but not very homely. Despite this, my mother is well cared for by very competent staff, who are attentive, empathetic and friendly. They keep me updated with any incidents which occur and inform me of any new prescribed care and are happy to listen and act on any concerns I raise. We work together to solve any issues which may arise. In my view the daily activities are a priority, to maintain physical and mental wellbeing. South Grange has an excellent caring team, who treat their residents with respect and care for them as individuals, encouraging participation in their daily activity programme."

"I can’t thank every staff member at South Grange Care Home enough for their kindness and support when we tragically lost my nana. My uncle is a resident at South Grange Care home, and the staff kindly took him to my nana's funeral and allowed us as a family to spend time supporting him at the care home after the funeral. The staff went out of their way to support us. My uncle was able to feel included as part of the family, and we can’t thank you all enough for enabling this."

"I have always found the staff who look after my mother to be very professional, courteous and very caring in the way they look after her. During the pandemic, the Activities Co-Ordinator is our main contact when setting up FaceTime calls with Mum and nothing is too much trouble for her even to the extent of setting up FaceTime calls with other staff whilst she is off on rest days."

"Our mother has been in South Grange for three years and very quickly told us that she regards it as her home. Mum is looked after by staff who obviously really do care for her and she regards many as her friends. Mum very much enjoys the activities each day, especially the bowling which she can't get enough of! During the pandemic there have been as many opportunities as possible to see mum, either by physical visit, when allowed, or by video call. We would recommend South Grange to anyone looking for a place for their loved one to call their new home."
