What our families say on carehome.co.uk

"My mum moved here in December 2023. She found the transition from her own home challenging but the staff all made her feel very welcome. Since she has been here, I am happy and confident that her care has been excellent."

Every member of staff contributes to the standard of care in this home and is valued by us."

"I had an excellent time on the recent beach trip. I liked the driver of the minibus and felt safe with his driving. I would like to be able to go swimming next time. I hope to go again."

"I found this care home excellent for me. I am mobile with a simmer frame and can do much for myself. I take part in activities of my choice. It is friendly here and I know the names of all staff. My relatives and friends visit often. Most important nurses give me my medication accurately and have full control of them. The building is well-maintained. My days pass quickly and my room is quiet. The call bells are available and close to hand."

"In June 2021 my mother entered Wimbledon Beaumont Care Community and was deeply unhappy. In the subsequent 18 months, this has been transformed into happiness, peace and acceptance. Thank you, Beaumont."

"We feel very fortunate that my father could be cared for at the Beaumont. It is a happy place, despite the challenges that failing health, memory loss and old age can bring and while it was not his home, my father did feel at home here and the staff went to a lot of trouble for him. The food was a particular pleasure. The main challenge was sometimes communicating with so many different people at times, but when difficulties arose they were quickly and professionally dealt with. Cleaning rooms thoroughly (emptying drawers etc) may also need more attention. Overall, a big thank you to all here for your kind and competent care."

"Mum was a resident here for almost exactly two years and immediately called it 'home'. She arrived during the pandemic but the staff made it easy for me to have a lot of contact with her via Skype and phone calls. Once visiting was possible again I really enjoyed going to see her as the staff made me feel so welcome and many became like family to me. She loved to join in the activities and to sit in the reception area where she could feel part of all the comings and goings! A fussy eater at the best of times, she did put on some much-needed weight and enjoyed the food - especially the constant supply of coffee and cakes! She had a lovely room and was lucky to have access to a terrace as well. Her needs were very well catered for - and I loved to see the pictures and videos of her on Facebook, joining in with the fun and she always said it was one long party! A number of staff have been there for many years which is unusual and shows what an excellent and well-managed care home this is."

"After a very upsetting experience with another care home, we were delighted by the kindness shown to my husband at Beaumont Wimbledon. The staff are considerate and highly professional. Because of his dementia, my husband can be very difficult to manage and needs supervision but he is invariably treated with dignity and respect. The high level of trained staff is very reassuring and the dementia wing is unobtrusively very secure. The availability of the local GP is a bonus. His room is small, cosy, and nicely furnished but he usually prefers to join in the many activities. The meals are excellent and nicely served. All care homes should be like this one! I should also mention the kindness shown to my daughter and myself at a very emotional time."

"My relative settled in well and has made steady progress to current independence, enjoys a good relationship with all the staff (who are incredible ambassadors for this care home) and many other residents and joins in with various group activities of interest. We are happy as a family, particularly for the safety and peace of mind for all of us this friendly home offers."

"After a slightly bumpy start due to the shock of my mother of her injuries and loss of independent living, the Beaumont has pulled out the stops to rehabilitate her physically and provide care and mental stimulation. She is more engaged now than when she was independently living at home."

"Overall excellent. Comfortable spacious room with all the necessary facilities. All-day visitor access. All the staff are well trained, friendly and professional, all very helpful. The meals are varied and nourishing and in my case specifically tailored to my post-operation needs (Pureed)."

"My father having been in hospital for a period of time, needed care and support that we could not offer in the home. The Wimbledon Beaumont have been able to give an excellent hand of care, reassurance and family support which I can recommend to anyone who needs close supervision/palliative and or old-age care. My father at 91 feels very looked after and supported."

"Mum has been in Barchester Wimbledon Beaumont for around six months having moved from another care home during the pandemic. To my surprise, she settled in very quickly and started to call it 'home' almost immediately. Her room was newly decorated for her and she was made to feel very welcome. The activities team do a great job keeping her busy and it is lovely to see pictures of the residents on Facebook, enjoying all the parties that they seem to have! I really feel that the staff care, instead of just being paid to care. Visits are very well managed with options of inside the visitor's suite, in the bedroom for a designated guest, and outside visits when the weather is nice enough. I also have Skype calls several times a week so I have lots of contact. I'm very happy and relieved to have Mum in the Beaumont."

"I have been a resident here for several weeks following a week as an inpatient in the hospital. My son and daughter arranged for me to be admitted here. Previously, I had been in another nursing home that I was not entirely happy in. The staff made me very welcome here. I have a ground floor room, so I can observe some activity in the road outside. I had to isolate in the room at first as I had come from another hospital. I have plenty of interests including learning the Frech language. Once I was able to join the other residents, I was pleasantly surprised at the pleasant conversations they were able to hold. My health has improved here. I get my many medications on time and do not have the worry of ordering and collecting them. I have gradually become self-care, but if I need help, a happy group of carers are there to help me day or night. I enjoy my meals, which are adequate for our needs. I am mobile in a wheelchair each day. I am sleeping well a night, and my family are happy that I am a resident here. I must not forget the activity organisers who organise activities throughout the day to suit the needs as appropriate for individuals requests."

"During this period of Covid lockdown. I have found the manager, cares and staff of Wimbledon Beaumont to be exceptional in their dedication, professionalism and attitude. They face the pandemic with courage, commitment and with compassion. I felt they listened to my needs regarding my father's care and were flexible, willing, supportive and patient in finding a way to allow covid safe visits to meet my father's individual needs. Exceptional"

"Having relocated from Dorset to Wimbledon on the eve of the first lockdown in March 2020 I was apprehensive. I was also very weak and in need of dedicated care after a second severe stroke. The manager, staff and carers at Wimbledon Beaumont were excellent. They quickly assessed my needs and established a routine where I felt safe, secure and cared for and enabled Covid safe visits as often as possible throughout the pandemic. Excellent."

"We cannot be more thankful for the excellent care and attention given to our mother during her time at Wimbledon Beaumont. "Absolutely amazing, outstanding. I have never seen a care home provide a service as this one. Mum's care was administered perfectly and I was always made involved and kept informed in all stages. The staff and admin team were very friendly, welcoming, hospitable and sympathetic to the needs of my mother and myself. It is a shame we could not move Mum here sooner as her quality of life, we feel, would have improved significantly. Thank you Barchester."

"Barchester Wimbledon Beaumont Care Community is an incredibly well run place with a charismatic, inspiring and caring manager. The staff went to a lot of effort on Monday 20th July 2020 to put on a surprise birthday for the manager. "I have been a resident since Sept 2019 and find Wimbledon Beaumont to be very comfortable. The food is always excellent whether served on a tray due to COVID or gradually reopening for mobile residents to use the dining room. The carers are excellent and the nursing staff both day and night are good. I would recommend it to anyone looking for temporary or permanent care."

"My father was admitted to the Beaumont Care home in Wimbledon when he was unwell and could not confidently look after himself at home. This was a very stressful time for me and my family, however, from the moment my father arrived, he was surrounded by wonderful nurses and carers who could not have done any more to help me and help him. He was so so happy at the Home and I will forever be grateful for their managing the situation (a short, intense illness) with such experience, care and compassion. In his last few days, the Beaumont nurses and carers knew exactly what to do which I will always be immensely grateful for. Thank you Wimbledon Beaumont for being there for my father."

"A place that I felt at ease from day one, and every visit thereafter. Welcome for visitors, hospitality, space and comfort to be with our mother in a 'home from home'. Compassionate, patient staff; communicating with residents/visitors with professionalism and authenticity. Hospitality; care in the creation of appealing, tasty food and drink, whilst trying to meet individual needs. Social life, part of a group; opportunity to know other residents (communal areas, weekly activities). The dining room is central to this as people sit together, with menu choices, served by friendly staff, (feels familiar in a social context), visitors are able to join in with acceptance/minimal fuss. Social; a variety of well-thought-through blended, creative and stimulating activities; choices for residents - not so much what doing, but it together so builds morale and potential for friendship. Whole experience; choices of mental/physical stimulation, social and group connection and physical space for solitude or personal endeavour. The Beaumont is like living; (as opposed to waiting), my mum was comfortable in many ways - she would have been happy there for longer. The Beaumont is a home; resident live together with support, and it does not feel formulaic."

"Due to lockdown this review is based on mostly how my dad seems to be, under the extra strange circumstances on top of what must have been strange for him anyway. All things considered, he seems to be pretty close to happy, and I'm absolutely certain we chose the right care home."

"I appreciated that the home welcomed friends and family to visit whenever they wanted. I saw that my mother-in-law was happy there, she was always paying compliments to the place, her room, how it looked, the food and the people. Although not able to fully participate in all activities, she enjoyed the stimulation she had of being with other residents. The activities coordinator and head of the care team always gave her very caring and tender attention. The home also were aware that she liked to look good and had a good, friendly and attentive hairdresser and ensured she was properly made up each day. Often I stayed with her when she ate, I noticed the care of the team in presenting and serving the food and in the attention they gave to each of the residents who had difficulties. The food was extremely good and my mother in law enjoyed a glass of wine with her meal. The change of management from the previous year certainly improved the attitude of the staff and the care and love given."

"My gratitude to Wimbledon Beaumont has increased during these difficult times. My mother has been a resident at the home for three years. She was recently admitted to hospital for three weeks. Following her discharge the manager and her team have done so much to rehabilitate her and build up her strength despite the pressures of time and resources as a result of the coronavirus. An excellent home shows its true colours even more during tough times and this is exactly what the Beaumont has done. Spotlessly clean and with staff who are dedicated and capable I am confident that my mother is in the best place for her physical and emotional needs. The team around her are attentive and caring and despite being unable to visit I am kept informed of my mother's progress and receive regular updates from the head nurse. A big thank you to one and all at this excellent home."

"My mother lived for some years in the assisted living flats associated with the Wimbledon Beaumont care home. For the last few weeks of her life, she was cared for in the home itself. These arrangements worked very well for her and for our family. We were always impressed by the courtesy and friendliness of the caring staff and the prompt and helpful involvement of the manager and support staff. Towards the end of her life, my mother was looked after with genuine compassion and sympathy by an outstanding and dedicated team of carers. I recommend the Wimbledon Beaumont as providing a highly professional and effective service but most importantly a real feeling of home to its residents."

"We have huge respect for the job that Wimbledon Beaumonts team have done over the past year. My mother is a resident and the care and kindness that is given by the whole team is such reassurance for us as a family. We have always been greeted with a smile and welcome on arrival. The leadership is also one that we value, as behind every good team is a great leader and that is also evident. The communication over the past eighteen months has significantly improved and even in this challenging time with world events dominating the news and care homes having a significantly difficult time, we feel reassured that Mum is well cared for."

"Aunty was in the care home for 14 months it took her a couple of months to settle but soon thought of it as home. She enjoyed the food which was varied, in suitable portions and served in the lovely dining room or in her room. Good range of activities including poetry sessions, slow yoga and art class. All staff very friendly and welcoming. Carers often sat with aunty for a chat which she loved. Pleasant sunny garden with several benches to sit on. She was well cared for generally and especially when she was unwell. Always kept family informed. They (staff) were genuinely upset when she died."

"Since arriving in Wimbledon Beaumont Care Home five months ago my 91-year-old mother's well-being has improved significantly. "My Mother was in Wimbledon Beaumont for two years. The care and love she received were always so good and the food excellent. The home went through a period of uncertain, even poor management, that led to staff shortages, but in the last year, a new manager came and has done a great deal to improve the morale of the staff, which in turn, was reflected in the love and care my Mother received, right up to the end of her life."

"We have been so happy with our choice of Wimbledon Beaumont as the care home for our parents. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by carers, nurses, maintenance staff and management who all knew our names. Nothing was too much trouble to make our parents feel at home; from hanging their paintings on the wall to helping us organise their room. The staff have proved to be extremely competent, friendly, caring and so patient. The nursing and care staff are thorough in their observations and record-keeping and the home GP is excellent. The food is excellent, the facilities are clean and modern and there is a good range of activities on offer from trained staff which are inclusive and fun. We can't rate Wimbledon Beaumont highly enough."

"I would like to clarify my rating of poor. Carers, seniors, cleaners, handyman and entertainment excellent and certainly enhanced my 14 days. Nurses No. For three days I requested a nurse, dedicated carers were my messengers. It was only on the third day through the intervention of a friend that a nurse appeared. I shudder to think what my mental state would have been if my friend did not advocate. I found it humiliating to do so much chasing. I had had such high hopes of entering the Beaumont."

"I can't rate Wimbledon Beaumont highly enough. I knew that this was a first-class home from the moment we arrived when a group of carers came out to welcome my mother and help her out of the car. Never once during her two weeks respite did the care fall below excellent standards, from the silver service dining room to the friendly lounge, the wide range of activities and the personal care/attention. I was touched by the genuine love shown to each resident by the carers, they made the residents smile and feel safe. I would highly recommend Wimbledon Beaumont as a warm, caring, first-class home for the elderly."

"This facility looked after my 98-year-old mother in the last days of her life. The care and concern shown were exemplary, even when family were present, the carers looked in very regularly to check her and to make sure the family was getting everything they needed. "As a friend of a Wimbledon Beaumont resident, I wanted to say thank you for the excellent care your staff provided recently during a health incident. The senior care assistant was both diligent and sensitive to the resident's anxieties and together with the nursing staff on duty that afternoon, the situation was dealt with in a calm and professional manner. At all times, I was kept informed of the situation and any decisions. I'm very grateful for such professional back up and would very much like to pass on my thanks to all those at Wimbledon Beaumont."

"When we first came to choose a place for my mother, Wimbledon Beaumont seemed a very happy place, but the long-term manager left. The home went through a hiatus and we considered changing the home. But it seems that my (and others) concerns were heard and a new General Manager appointed, who seems to have a very positive, resident-centred approach. The staff are good and caring. I am optimistic, with the additional staff and the new manager, Wimbledon Beaumont will once again be the happy home we first chose."

"My stepmother was transferred from hospital in the end stages of dementia. Her stay wasn't long - but the care she received was fantastic. She was treated with such care and dignity at the end of her life and we felt supported at this difficult time too."

"My husband had come out of hospital and going back home was no longer viable. It was like a ray of light that the place came up, where they could deal with this particular set of medical problems. It is around the corner from home!"

"Excellent care during a stay of 9 years, including that of my husband, who died last year aged 99. The residence is in one of the independent flats in Beech Court."

"You hear so many horrid tales about care homes, so we were fearful when looking for a place for my mother-in-law. We needn't have worried at all because Wimbledon Beaumont is excellent in every aspect. The staff are lovely - so kind and helpful and they treat residents and visitors with enormous respect. The food is delicious. Cleanliness and standards of care are impeccable. The rooms are bright and well furnished. There are plenty of lounges and garden spaces. Activities abound, yet it is always a choice; nobody pressurises anyone to do anything against their will - nobody says you must join in. We're delighted that my mother-in-law is not lonely now. She chats easily to other residents, yet is able to spend plenty of time quietly on her own in her room. She's genuinely happy; I haven't seen her smile so much since her husband passed away more than four years ago. I'm sure this is largely due to the warm welcome she was given when she arrived at Wimbledon Beaumont and the fantastic care she is receiving there."

"Mum is extremely well cared for at Wimbledon Beaumont. The home has a nice homely feel, is comfortable and it is always spotlessly clean. The staff are always welcoming and friendly and they all care for mum extremely well. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is also very good and there is always plenty of it."

"We find the Barchester Wimbledon Care Home to be very friendly and responsive. The quality of care is excellent. The rooms are well equipped and specialist air mattress beds are available. The resident's notes are usually detailed and up to date, the matron is always well informed. We are called whenever there is a significant change or slight virus/infection. Skincare is particularly good and pressure sores are very well monitored and looked after."

"A very well set up care home which mixed highly professional health care with attentive, caring staff. Food excellent. Enough activities and facilities / different rooms and garden to use. They looked after Dad very well and his family had easy access to him, seemingly whenever we wanted an open door policy. Many good features - but the best was the staff who create a real community and were unfailingly kind and supportive."

"My father has been resident at Beaumont Care Home for a year. He is very well cared for and the staff are excellent. The best thing about Beaumont is the way staff engaged with my dad, they like a joke and seem so caring with him. Communication between the family and Beaumont is very good and they respond to our questions and concerns promptly. Dad's personal care is very good too."

"As my wife (the resident), is unable to walk, I appreciate that it must be extremely difficult to provide satisfactory care. However, it seems that she has become isolated in her room. She seems to have lost the use of language and is deteriorating into a vegetable state. The staff I have spoken to assure me that is her "condition" and she "doesn't want to go out"."

"After over 2 years my wife and I both aged 93 have been very comfortably settled in an adjacent apartment which we purchased. We have been particularly impressed by the cheerfulness of the staff (it takes a lot of character/energy to be cheerful all day!) When the previous manager moved on it was a pity that part-time management had to be arranged for several months before the new manager took over."

"I am at the beginning of my stay at the home having been in my family home for many years. My change to assisted living has been much less painful thanks to the care, help and kindness of the staff. Not only is the care food but there is also a friendly atmosphere which makes it feel more like home than an institution. When visiting some other potential care homes I have felt that they are less geared to the needs of the individual."

"I am nearly 98 years of age and have lived very happily at the Beaumont for eleven years. My room is my home and has everything I need. My only worry is the security during the early evening as when the receptionist leaves at five o'clock anyone could walk in for several hours until the excellent night security begins. One of my sons-in-law too mentioned this several times."

"I feel safe and secure in Wimbledon Beaumont and enjoy the privacy of my flat, which is light and airy, but also the ability to share meal times with other residents in the dining room. The staff are considerate of my needs, giving me help with washing, bathing and dressing every morning. My flat is kept clean and tidied. I can call on night staff if I need them. I am given the freedom to come and go as I please and the staff respect my independence but help with tasks I have difficulty with."

"As to whether I would recommend Wimbledon Beaumont would depend on very in the financial availability of the person concerned and how would I know that!! I have found over the years that I have been visiting friends and sometimes the answering of the call bell has been somewhat slow and in some cases, I have ended up trying to find help. I have always found the staff including the manager very helpful and welcoming to visitors."

"My wife and I both aged 92 moved to the home in August 2015. We purchased an apartment in a block adjacent to the retirement home. We can live as independently as we wish and use the facilities of the home as and when we wish or need to, these include a restaurant and various activities of the home including help with shopping. As long as we have a car we benefit from a car park pass of the apartment block and a garden adjacent to it."

February 2013 - With confidence I can honestly say that my family and myself and husband rate the Wimbledon Beaumont's environment as one of the most outstanding care homes in London.
The overall atmosphere is of calm, smiling welcome to visitors, offers of tea and coffee and extra chairs which is always reassuring. It can be debilitating seeing a muched loved parent in such a state, whether from illness or extreme old age. I can leave the home after a visit confident that she is in safe hands. So well done to all of you at the Beaumont!
