Barchester's Charitable Foundation
An independent registered charity, the Barchester's Charitable Foundation is focused on helping older people and adults with physical or mental disabilities.
The Foundation’s objective is to come up with practical solutions that help people become more self-sufficient and independent in their lives. This is achieved by awarding grants to groups for vulnerable people in need of help and to individuals in need of health equipment, building adaptations or financial help unobtainable through state funding.
With over 200 grants given annually, each worth an average of £650, the Foundation’s board - a mix of company and independent trustees - make the decision on grant recipients. Each trustee has experience of working with older people or adults with disabilities either in the private, public or voluntary sector.
Fundraising
Fundraising for the Foundation happens year-round, with a particularly focus in May when Barchester Foundation Week is held and each pound raised by staff (often in tandem with the people we support and their relatives) and others is generously matched by the shareholders of Barchester Healthcare.
