Activities at Arbour Court Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a variety of activities and events for all residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus, visits from entertainers and musicians and small group and individual activities in quiet yet stimulating environments. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect resident individual interests as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Aimee Pickford

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Aimee and I'm the Activities Co-ordinator & Dementia Champion here at Arbour Court. In 2019 I received my Level 3 Health and Social Care and decided I wanted to help and enrich the lives of others.

I started working at Arbour Court in January 2021 as a Care Assistant and progressed to be a Senior Carer. In October 2023 I moved onto the activities team as an Activities Team Leader. I love my role as one of our homes Activities Co-ordinators and love to find new and exciting ways to engage our residents.

I am also a Dementia Champion and work closely with our General Manager, Lisa and other Dementia Champions to implement Barchester's Dementia Framework within the home.

Being part of Arbour Court's family is very rewarding and I feel lucky to work in a great environment.

The great outdoors!

Our residents enjoy nothing more than time out in our garden during the cooler periods of these hot days. We roll our trousers up, sun cream and hats on and enjoy a variety of games, relaxation, and SMILES smiles smiles and laughter as we talk about holidays gone by...... absolutely the best days by far.

Some days we just go out to get the air,  our garden is very calming and we encourage our families to  join us or to visit with their loved ones and enjoy afternoon teas there.

A special thank you

Our dedicated hard working team were gifted with two boxes of cup cakes to say thank you for all that they do. To know how we make a difference to our residents and families is such a proud moment. A thoughtful gesture.

Rocky comes to visit

Rocky is back by request bringing smiles and happiness to all. Rocky is amazing for our residents wellbeing as he gets us out walking, he stimulates memories and reminiscence and encourages interactions amongst quieter individuals. He  provides the same love and smiles to our residents that are in their rooms. What a difference a dog makes as part of our pet therapy sessions.

Musical mystery tour

Our homes had a brilliant time with curator Sarah Deters as she took us on a virtual ‘Music Through the Ages’ tour of St Cecilia’s Hall: Concert Room and Music Museum.

Our residents were thrilled to discover weird and wonderful musical instruments, hear their unusual sounds, and find out how instruments have changed over the last 500 years.

The virtual live event explored the world-renown collection of musical instruments on display at St Cecilia’s Hall, Scotland’s oldest concert hall.

Garden time

Our Garden offers our provides our residents with the space to have one to one relaxing time , therapeutic and physical time , watering the flowers and doing daily activities that are meaningful and person centred. But also it gives everyone the opportunity to gather and do group newspaper reading, having a game of football and tending to the garden together.

Clay time

We had the most amazing time with “Claytime Stockport" introduced to us by Care Assistant Amang. Claytime Stockport aims to enable people to express themselves and potentially gain therapeutic benefits through working with clay”.

We had sun hats ready, rolled our sleeves up and got our hands dirty making our very own personal keep sakes. What a fabulous fun time we had.
