Activities at Ashby House Care Home
Activities at Ashby House
Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to enrich peoples lives here at Ashby House. We stimulate people both physically and mentally by organising fun filled, group and individual activities to promote the well-being of those we support.
There are regular outings in our very own minibus and visits from PAT dog therapists, church services, musicians, dancers, and local school children. We also have our very own 'Good Life' gardening club, where we grow our own produce, which we then use in our cooking club. We also host weekly bingo sessions which are proving very popular and are growing in numbers.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Ashby House Care Home
National Beer Day
We celebrated National Beer Day outside in the sunshine in our lovely Courtyard Garden with a selection of Beers from around the world for our residents to try and enjoy. Our residents really enjoyed socializing with one another and sampling some of the different beers.
Carers Week
We showed how much we appreciated all that our wonderful Carers at Ashby House do for our resident’s, we had daily treats from our kitchen, also ‘Thank You’ cards and chocolates sent to our home from our Head Offices.
Jubilee Celebrations
We had some lovely events around our home over the Jubilee Weekend. We had a Jubilee Tree Planting Ceremony with Local Councillors attending and helping us plant our 2 new Plum trees in our Sensory Garden. We also enjoyed a Garden Party with live entertainment and a wonderful buffet for all to enjoy.
Retro Sweet trolley
We set up our activity trolley with some old fashioned jars of sweets, taking our residents back to their childhoods and when they bought the very same sweets for families. We had sweets such as strawberry Bonbons, Lemon Sherbet’s, Jelly babies, chocolate mice, wine gums and many more. Needless to say that our residents loved the retro sweets and we will defiantly be doing this themed trolley again in the future!
Time for a Cuppa!
We held a Time for a Cuppa coffee afternoon here at Ashby House in May, raising money for Dementia UK. We had such fun, with friends and family joining our resident’s and staff for this fun filled event. We had live entertainment “Fiona Harrison” singing a wonderful VE Day show for us all, and we also had our dining room set up with a wonderful selection of cakes along with teas and coffees. Everyone enjoyed the singalong and everyone enjoyed the refreshments afterwards, such a lovely afternoon for such a good cause.
Gardening Club
This April we started our ever popular Gardening Club again after a winter break. We have been enjoying it by starting sowing seeds for a butterfly garden, planting some seasonal plants in some pots and cleaning up and filling our bird feeders.
