Activities at Ashford House Care Home

Here at Ashford House we try to aim to cater to everyone’s hobbies and preferences, nothing is impossible! All our activities are designed to empower our residents helping them complete meaningful activities that stimulate them mentally, physically and emotionally. As well as sticking to 'mainstream' activities that you would normally find in this kind of environment, we aim to step outside the box with our provision. We think this is the best way of creating person-centred activities, as each plan is uniquely crafted around each individual, who are treated with respect and dignity in their choices and supported to take control of how they spend their time.

Sheeba Khan

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Sheeba, and I am an Activities Coordinator here at Ashford House.

Having a degree in Fine-Arts and a creative background enables me to plan person-centred activities according to the personalities and tastes of our residents here at Ashford House. I believe and work towards making a positive difference to their day to day life and I can honestly say this is one of the most rewarding jobs. I am really enjoying my role as an Activities Co-Ordinator at Ashford House.

Life at Ashford House Care Home

Macmillan Coffee Morning

On Friday at Ashford House, we held our first MacMillan Coffee Morning in the garden, and the weather was beautiful.

Thank you to everybody that came and enjoyed some scrumptious cakes made by our lovely chef, Raj, and the kitchen team; and also to Alison on housekeeping for the delicious lemon cheesecake. We all had a wonderful day and managed to raise £124.34 for an amazing cause.

Well done, everyone!

Preparation for Easter

One of the many ways we will be celebrating Easter at Ashford House Care Centre is to enjoy some traditional chocolate eggs and bunnies.  Today our Lifestyle Coordinator, Denise, on behalf of Barchester Healthcare, bought some Easter chocolate for all Residents and Staff to enjoy next weekend. Thank you.  We are all very excited.

Mother's Day is always so Special at Ashford House.

Residents had a lovely day celebrating. The day started with flower and chocolate deliveries. Followed by a special lunch cooked by our award winning Chef. The staff and residents discussed our lovely Mothers and Mother figures that have been and are in our lives. Then, in the  afternoon we had  treats, pots of tea and  calls with loved ones. A good time was had by all

The Magic of the Magic Table

The residents of Ashford House enjoy the magic of our 'Magic Table'. Barchester's  new ‘Magic Table 360 and the Happiness Programme’ is a fantastic way to improve our residents wellbeing, coordination and stimulation. The 'Magic Table' is a projector that is transmitted  onto almost any surface and has a range of sensory games and images that the residents just love.  A firm favourite at Ashford House is the 'bird feeder' but there are many many more programmes to see and take part in.

Dancing King's

Here at Ashford House our staff and residents  never miss an opportunity to dance. Dance provides a  great, overall, low impact workout. We are aware the dance movements improve core strength,  balance and movement.  Dancing is also such fun.  So this afternoon was spent dancing and laughing.  What better way to improve our residents wellbeing.
