Activities at Atfield House Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Nest Boxes

Have you seen our fantastic  our fantastic Nest Boxes. We are waiting for them to have new residents

We put these Nest Boxes up in our gardens for National Nest Box Week, which takes place each year from Feb 14-21 to encourage everyone to put up nest boxes in their local area to promote the conservation of our breeding birds and wildlife. Garden songbirds can struggle to find suitable nesting holes and cavities if there are a lack of mature trees in the area.

Our gardens are well populated with wildlife. Recently birds seen in our gardens include a kingfisher, heron, jay, egret, mallards, sparrows and of course the beautiful wild green parakeet.

Both residents and staff are excited to see if Atfield House receive any guests in our nesting box. We shall keep you informed

Gifts from our fantastic Community

Throughout recent months Atfield House have really felt the love from our fantastic community within our surrounding area.

So thank you so much to 'The Camomile Flower Design' for these beautiful roses.  Our residents were thrilled

Our Valentines Magic Table

Atfield House's fantastic Magic Table was themed with valentines games this week.

The Magic Table 360 is portable so it can be used wherever residents feel most comfortable, it can be projected onto the floor, ceiling, walls, a whiteboard or even the bed.

The benefits of the Magic Table 360 has shown to improve mood and behaviours of people living with dementia, greater physical, social and cognitive activity, reduction in withdrawn-like symptoms, weight gain and positive impacts on relationships with care staff, friends and family.

Staff and residents have all thoroughly enjoyed the Valentine's fun here at Atfield House, we hope you too.

Life Enrichment

The fun and laughter has continued at Atfield House care home, in Isleworth as residents recently enjoyed trying new hobbies and skills. These hobbies Include art and reading clubs, topical quizzes and discussion groups, arts and crafts, pen-pal schemes, sharing letters with local schools and writing poems.

The activities coordinator Simona Maria supports the personal interests of residents so they can continue with their individual hobbies in an effort to celebrate life as often as we can. All group and individual activities offer a choice of mental, physical and spiritual activities of people we care for.

Six Nations Championship

This week we celebrate the beginning of this’s years Six Nations Championship - the oldest rugby championship in the world, dating back to 1882.   There is great excitment here at Atfield House and the celebrations of our residents and staff  have already started.   Twickenham Stadium is literally just round the corner from Atfield House, so of course many of our residents and staff are massive Rugby supporters.   Non less than our fantastic General Manager Elaine Robson  who is an avid Rugby and Scotland fan.   Today, in preparation of our many talks, views  and activities surrounding the championship, our team visited Twickenham Stadium to take pictures to show and discuss with our residents,  of the 27ft tall bronze sculpture just outside of the stadium depicting a Rugby line up.
