Activities at Bedewell Grange Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Donna Brooks

Activities Coordinator

My Name is Donna. I am the activities co-ordinator at Bedewell Grange.

I joined Bedewell Grange in April 2022 and I bring lots of new exciting ideas to the role, having worked in the health and social care sector for the last 15 years. I am passionate about my role within the home and aim to bring a smile to all our residents faces through different types of activities.

I'm bright and bubbly, so aim to share this each day at work. I have experience in supporting our residents who are more able as well as doing sensory Namaste sessions with our residents who are less able.

As I get to know the residents likes and dislikes, if you would like to come and chat with me about your family member please pop in and see me.

Life at Bedewell Grange Care Home

Christmas Tree Festival

Since we haven’t been able to go out and about to see any Christmas lights, we brought the lights indoors. Many of our trees were donated by our supportive relatives and some of the residents helped to decorate them with more donated baubles and decorations. It is a magical place to admire; the display also looks marvellous from the outside.

Christmas Card Creations

Some of our ladies enjoyed an afternoon making cards to send to loved ones. We used a simple idea of tying ribbons around small twigs that we found in our own garden. They turned out lovely!

Residents benefit from therapy dolls

Residents enjoy doll therapy at Bedewell and have been spending some quality time with their therapy dolls who resemble newborn babies. Kirsty Enfield, General Manager said: “The dolls are greatly loves by all of the residents and give a nice sense of belonging and peacefulness in the home and it is great so see our residents interacting with them”

Home raise funds for Macmillan

With the support of our residents’ families and staff who contributed lots of cakes both home-made and bought we were able to have our MacMillan Coffee Morning, albeit ‘virtual’.

The residents enjoyed lashings of cake in our light & airy conservatory while raising funds for the charity. At the end of a great day we managed to still raise £342.50 for Macmillan

Rule Britannia for Residents

At Bedewell Grange the show must go on and Residents enjoyed a fun day watching the Last night of the Proms on the big screen and engaging in a rapturous rendition of Rule Britannia, Land of hope and glory and many more.

Residents were mesmerised watching the last night at the proms enjoying canapes, sweet treats and a little glass of bubbly.

International Ice-cream day

Residents spent the morning guessing and trying all the different ice creams flavours, all 7 of them! The taste buds continued to tingle as they tried tubs, wafers, cones, flakes, sprinkles and syrups which brought back memories of  their childhood jaunts to the seaside. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day and said they couldn’t wait for the next time!
