Activities at Bedewell Grange Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

By the Sea

We celebrated our residents’ artistic talents by holding an inauguration night on Thursday January 30th to launch our art exhibition.

Our ‘By the Sea’ exhibition shows our residents' original watercolour paintings and textile pieces. There are over 40 pieces of work in the collection. Residents have been working on their pieces of art for several months now. The exhibition was inspired by their fond childhood memories at the seaside.

Staff, residents, their families, and members of the local community enjoyed our ‘By the Sea' exhibition. Refreshments and snacks were prepared by our hospitality team!

Smurf the Miniature Pony Visited Bedewell Grange

We really enjoyed the visit from Smurf who is a pet therapy pony. Lisa from Mini Pony hire explained she visits care homes around the north east and that Smurf has recently won an national award for pony of the year for his long service in the care sector.

Pet therapy is a vital part of our wellbeing programme here at Bedewell Grange, so Smurf will be visiting us every other month. We can’t wait!

Love in a Box

Staff and residents of Bedewell Grange in Hebburn recently launched their ‘love in a box’ appeal to combat loneliness within the community over the festive period. They wanted to help people over the age of 75, who live on their own within the local community and to combat loneliness this Christmas. Local businesses, supermarkets and members of the public in the local area all came together to donate toiletries, chocolates, sweets, Christmas cakes and gifts for ladies and gentlemen.

Local stores, Asda, Tesco, Aldi, along with staff and families of the home have all kindly donated to the appeal and with a ‘shout out' on local community social media groups, fifteen nominations to receive the gifts were received.

General Manager Margaret Fairrie, commented “Staff and residents at Bedewell Grange are so happy to share the love this Christmas. We have even invited the people who received our love in a box to our Christmas and New Year’s Eve party.”
