Activities at Bluebell Park Care Home
Here at Bluebell Park our aim is to enrich the lives of our residents, through group, and individual activities.
We have a wide range of activities designed to mentally, and physically stimulate the people we care for, including regular trips out in the mini bus, and taking part in the community led events that happen in the village we live in. We hold monthly resident meetings so our planning reflects their wishes, and requests, for example we now hold a regular bingo club (which residents families love to attend) and a bowling afternoon which the gentlemen here particularly enjoy. Entertainers and musicians regularly come into the home and families and friends are always welcome to attend too.
Activities are one of the most important aspects of our care home, and we strive to have a full range on offer. Our team here at Bluebell are dedicated to ensuring our residents enjoy, and get as much out of our entertainment as possible. It is without a doubt our mission is to make sure that life at Bluebell is active, fun, and most of all happy.
Leanne Lowe
Hello. My name is Leanne Lowe and I am the Activity Coordinator for Bluebell Park.
I have worked for Barchester for 6 years as a Carer and I have now made the move to Activities.
During my time here I have built lovely friendships and knowledge of our residents . I aim to offer a range of varied and tailored activities and group sessions that are meaningful to each of our residents. I am thrilled to be supporting the whole team at Bluebell Park in delivering fun, engaging and interesting activities for our residents. We also have a minibus which is used weekly to take residents out to cafes, local beauty spots and day trips.

Life at Bluebell Park Care Home
Rescue Parrots at Bluebell Park
Here at Bluebell Park, we welcomed Jo Jo and Co. Parrot Rescue. They brought a selection of birds for residents to hold and gave a talk about their work and how they help the birds.
Residents and staff thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and cannot wait to have them back.
Halloween Fun at Bluebell Park
Residents enjoyed a morning of pumpkin carving, followed by a Halloween-themed lunch. In the afternoon, we all enjoyed some Halloween bingo, apple bobbing and a 'Put the Smile on the Skeleton' game. It was a lovely day for the residents, with the staff joining in on the fun by dressing up.
Summer Fete
On Saturday 3rd September, we hosted our annual summer fete. Even though the weather was against us, we had a lovely time inside, with plenty of prizes being won on the tombola and raffle. The fete was officially opened by the Mayoress of Derby and a cadet band kept us entertained with war time and modern music.
We also had a 'guess the name of the doll' competition, a 'guess the weight of the truck' contest, hook-a-duck and tin-can alley games, along with face painting. Residents and families also enjoyed homemade samosas, hot dogs and burgers.
Wimbledon Fun
Here at Bluebell, we celebrated Wimbledon with our own table tennis competition; it was surprising how competitive residents were. They especially enjoyed the strawberries, cream and Pimm's & lemonade at half time.
An Ice Cream Afternoon
As it was really hot outside, we wanted the ice cream van to visit us at Bluebell Park. Typically, the weather changed, but this did not deter the carers and residents from visiting the van to get their 99. It went down a treat, especially the sound of the ice cream van tune as it approached the home.
We love our live entertainment
Residents from all floors joined us downstairs in reception for a sing along and a dance. We regularly have live entertainment, covering all genres and offering a fun time for staff and residents alike, where they can also enjoy refreshments and homemade cakes.
Our next live entertainer will be Tanya Adele, a vintage singer, on Friday 17th June 2016 at 2.30pm. This is also Care Home Open Day, where we will be playing various games in the morning. In addition, we will have a book sale and a raffle to raise funds for the Barchester Foundation.
Please feel free to join us.
