Activities at Bushey House Beaumont Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Tina Stovey

Activities Lead /Diversity Champion

I started working at Bushey House Beaumont in 2022 in an activities role that I absolutely love. There are very few jobs that offer the daily satisfaction and fulfilment that mine does. I am delighted to be able to play my part in helping to bring joy and laughter into our residents’ daily lives and offer them an interesting choice of events to do just that.

Life at Bushey House Beaumont Care Home

Meet our latest Volunteer

We were joined last week by Watford A'level student Anika, who spent the day with helping out with activities and meeting our lovely residents. Anika is hoping to study medicine at university and wanted to experience how daily life operates in a nursing home. Anika enjoyed her time with us so much that she is now going to sign up to be a volunteer here in her school holidays.

The talented students performed a concert in our beautiful dining room at Bushey House Beaumont!

This is the second time we have been lucky enough to have the students play for our residents who all really enjoyed the visit, especially getting to meet the musicians afterwards and talk to them, Finding out more about them and the music and instruments they play.

Martin talk's history at St Hildas.

Martin, residents at Bushey House Beaumont, was invited to visit St Hilda’s school in Bushey to give a talk to students about his experience of being an evacuee in World War Two.

The children had a real life history lesson and found it so interesting to hear from someone who had actually lived through being an evacuee, a subject they are currently studying at school.

Bushey House Beaumont has a very close relationship with St Hilda’s school and our residents love sharing their life stories with the children and also welcoming them to our home at Bushey House.

Happy National Activity Providers Week!

We would like to take this opportunity to recognise and thank our wonderful Activity Coordinators here at Bushey House Beaumont.

We are proud of each and every one of our team for the unique, outstanding activities and entertainment they bring to our residents every single day. They always go above and beyond their role and for this we are truly grateful.

As part of the week, our Activities Coordinators have been taking part in a whole host of events provided by NAPA, connecting and sharing ideas with teams across the country.

Special celebrations are also taking place at the home throughout the week with residents, friends and fellow colleagues.

Chinese New Year at Bushey House Beaumont.

Residents enjoyed learning all about the Chinese new year this week with a talk from one of our assisted living residents, Mary.

We learnt about a Chinese proverb that told the story of how the 12 animals were chosen!

We then enjoyed chocolate coins as it’s the custom to give money for the Chinese new year.

We often have residents giving talks at Bushey House, in areas they have an interest or expertise in and the residents really enjoy this activity.
