Activities at Canmore Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are committed to organising a variety of events as well as offering tailored programmes to stimulate residents both mentally and physically. There are regular outings in the minibus to local places of interest, such as trips to the beach for ice cream, pub visits for a pint, and regular trips to Dobbies for tea and cakes. Georgie Girl, an old English sheep dog, also stops by the home on regular basis for pet therapy. Musical entertainment is a big hit with residents as well, so we book fan favourites to come and play at the home each month. At Canmore, relatives are always encouraged to join in on the fun too.

Life at Canmore Lodge Care Home

Games afternoon

Residents enjoy a game of dominos at Canmore Lodge as part of their popular games afternoons. A number of residents at Canmore Lodge had a great time playing a game of dominos with each other and squeezed in a quick natter and a cuppa in between games.  Everyone had fun as they showed a little friendly competition each game!

Residents enjoy a breath of fresh air

Residents of Canmore Lodge took to the homes beautiful garden to take advantage of the late summer sunshine to enjoy a breath of fresh air and to enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of homemade cake.

Everyone commented on how much better they felt for grabbing a breath of fresh air, feeling the sun on their faces and checking on the progress of flowers growing in the homes extensive grounds.

We are a top 20 care home!

We are delighted to announce that Canmore Lodge has been named as one of the top 20 care homes in Scotland by Carehome.co.uk. A huge congratulations to everyone who has made this possible!

Carehome.co.uk is an online care home directory that collects recommendations about homes across the UK and rates them in order to assist people looking for good quality care services in their search for the ideal care home.

Let me entertain you!

Residents at Canmore enjoy their music and keep everyone entertained with their spur-of-the-moment gatherings while encouraging everyone to enjoy a sing song.

This week’s karaoke was a lot of fun as residents sung and played their inflatable instruments before sitting back to enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of home made cake.

Home celebrate 10-years long service

A carer at Canmore Lodge has received a prestigious 10 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 10 years.

Aston, a Carer, started at Barchester in August 2011 and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.

Jane Aitken, General Manager said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating 10 years of loyal service with Aston. She has demonstrated her dedication and loyalty to this home and its residents year after year. I speak for all of us here at Canmore Lodge when I say that I’m looking forward to many more years of working with Aston!”

National Dog Day

Here at Canmore we love dogs and we marked National Dog Day in style.

We had fun reminiscing, looking at photos of our residents’ dogs from the past and we even created a picture board, to enable everyone to share memories of the dogs they owned.

Our local pet therapy organisation visited us to make the day even more special and we all got involved in a dog show competition, and themed quizzes.

It was a lovely day, enjoyed by all.
