Activities at Chalfont Lodge Care Home
Chalfont Lodge is a large care home and we have a diverse range of groups and events to ensure that everyone feels welcome and included. In the Lifestyle team we work hard to create a sense of community and ensure there is always someone to talk to and something to do.
Our residents help us to plan the monthly lifestyle programme, making sure that everyone has something they like, enabling people to keep up with life long hobbies or pick up new ones. We have long term projects like our summer parties, car shows, BBQs, craft fairs, Christmas shows to mention a few and residents can be as involved as they would like in all stages of the planning or just come along and enjoy on the day.
We love going out on trips, to lunch, shopping or to socialise with other local groups, we also have many people who come into visit us with church services, music, talks and support for our bigger events.
We have a fantastic team of staff and every department is involved in making sure our residents get the most out of living here. We have a brilliant music therapist who works her magic 3 days a week, running group and individual sessions. Our Physiotherapy team keep everyone fit and active, working with us to make sure everyone has access to sports and team games.
We have a full programme groups, events and clubs but none of it would be possible without our residents and their families, we all work together to make this a home from home and to keep laughter and friendship at the heart of what we do.

Life at Chalfont Lodge Care Home
Volunteers' Week
We celebrated Volunteers' Week by inviting our volunteer friends from the local community to join us for a special tea party.
We had a selection of sandwiches, quiches, crisps, cakes and fruit, beautifully prepared by the kitchen team, that were washed down with several cups of tea and a good natter with residents and relatives, whilst sitting outside on the decking area enjoying the sunny afternoon.
Around 15 of our friends attended and all received a card thanking them for their time, care and support they give us. Guests included members from our local churches, our PAT dog and its owners, a local bee keeper and several members of a local choir. Each of then have built up special friendships with residents and relatives over the years and help our community at Chalfont Lodge to flourish by offering friendship and support, so it was lovely to be able to show our appreciation and to give back a little bit of the care they show us.
Local entertainer, David and Elizabeth Keen, rekindled an old friendship with Sandy from the Uxbridge Male Voice Choir; they first met over 35 years ago, but lost contact and were brought back together again, as they sat around the same table discussing their experiences at Chalfont Lodge. It was lovely to know that they were once again able to keep in contact and they spent the afternoon exchanging stories about their love of music and filling each other in on what they have been doing since they last met many years ago.
Bank Holiday Fun
We were blessed with gorgeous weather during our May bank holiday. We all came together to enjoy drinks in the sunshine on our lovely decking area that overlooks a serene lake. Later in the day, residents, families and staff enjoyed refreshing homemade salads and ice creams to cool us all down.
Employee of the Month - April
Congratulations to Chris Kay, who is part of our maintenance team, for being named as Chalfont Lodge's Employee of the Month. Chris always has a smile on his face and goes the extra mile for all of the staff and residents here at the home.
Chris even brought in one of his beautiful vintage cars for our Classic Car Show for all of us to see.
Resident, Hazel, presented Chris with some flowers and thanked him for all his hard work.
15 Years at Chalfont
We recently celebrated our lovely nurse, Penka Aladzhova’s, 15th year at Chalfont Lodge.
Penka is caring, compassionate and dedicated to the residents on our Memory Lane Community. Penka always brings a ready smile to work and looks after her care team with the same kindness that she shows to residents.
We are very grateful to Penka for all the years of hard work she has given to residents at Chalfont Lodge. It really is the staff who work here, like Penka, who make Chalfont a home from home.
Classic Car Show
Our local Morris Club joined us for our 3rd Classic Car Show in recognition of our open day on 21st April.
The Morris Club is a group of local enthusiasts who spend many hours tinkering and polishing up their beloved vintage vehicles so that they can potter down the lanes on sunny summer days to showcase them at local events. There is nothing that the owners do not know about their cars, and they are always keen to share their knowledge with anyone who has a few spare minutes to ask questions.
The weather held out to make it a wonderful day for residents and our guests. They even got the chance to indulge in some Mr. Whippy ice cream.
20 Years of Service
We were very proud to be able to celebrate Sue Henry’s 20th year at Chalfont Lodge. Sue started work when the building was brand new and the rooms were all empty – and has stayed with us ever since.
Sue is a vibrant and supportive member of our team, always taking time to mentor and train new staff. She is a highly trained Carer and supports residents with their most complex needs.
Sue is full of fun and laughter and, over the years, has always found the time to bring a smile to the faces of residents and staff alike.
