Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Maria Durrant
Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019.
My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents.
I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

Life at Chater Lodge Care Home
Family fun
Vera's daughter Vicky came to visit her today. While they were enjoying time together in the lounge at Chater Lodge they decided to do a jigsaw together which brought back memories of holidays at the seaside and their favourite holiday activities.
Photos bring back memories for Vera
Vera loved looking at some old photos that we showed her, including pictures of the local area around Chater Lodge.
Margaret's blanket
Margaret had been outside at Chater Lodge and was feeling a little chilly, so she started to crochet a warm blanket. We think it might be a while before it is finished...
Vera and Norman Wisdom
Maria, our Activities Coordinator here at Chater Lodge, was chatting to Vera about the day's news and somehow they got onto the topic of milk, with Vera recalling the days when all milk came in bottles, and mini bottles were delivered to schools. This brought back memories of Norman Wisdom's film 'The Early Bird' in which he played a milkman. We found the film for Vera and she couldn't stop laughing! We love it when our conversations with residents go in unexpected directions.
Grand National Fun
It was Grand National day and as well as watching on the TV residents at Chater Lodge placed bets and picked horses for our own fun races.
Gorgeous lambs visit Chater Lodge
Residents, staff and families were all delighted to see and hold these beautiful lambs when they visited Chater Lodge. We gave them lots of milk and cuddles. We all felt happier at the end of their visit. Spring is here and summer is definitely on its way!
