Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Maria Durrant
Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019.
My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents.
I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

Life at Chater Lodge Care Home
Outing to Foxdale
We recently visited the Foxdale Equine Facility. Doris, Jean and Veronica visited the horses and we explored as much as possible. It was a delightful day, and Veronica touched a horse for the first time at the age of 96.

Memory Lane Changes
Not only has our downstairs been recently renovated, but our Memory Lane Community has also had a makeover. It has been freshly painted in vibrant colours and pet, garden and shop areas have been added.
Easter Celebrations
During our Easter celebrations, we were joined by Lacey & Mia, the daughters of Activities Coordinator, Annabel Mitchell. They visited with their bunny ears on to deliver the Easter eggs to residents.
They stayed and chatted and talked about the meaning of Easter with John. who used to teach RE.
We had an Easter quiz and made some nests with eggs and chicks in during our arts & crafts session.
Easter Cart
Our Easter Cart has been decorated using residents' own creations from our arts & crafts sessions. We are holding an Easter bonnet competition and Head Chef, David, is going to judge them on Easter Sunday and award a prize to the lucky winner. In addition to all of our lovely residents receiving an Easter egg, card and a glass of sherry, we also made some hot cross buns.
Mary Had a Little Lamb
On Friday 23rd March, four lambs visited Chater Lodge. Hosted by the Phoenix Children's Foundation, residents took great delight in talking to them and showing them affection.
