Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Maria Durrant

Activities Coordinator

Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019. My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents. I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

Painting Fun

Painting Fun

Today residents and staff got together to welcome Iain who organised a lovely afternoon of activities for us all. We listened to the sounds of different birds, and then got to paint our very own and plant some bulbs in them. We can't wait to watch them blossom!

On 13th October, residents and staff got together for our weekly Knit and Knatter afternoon. Even the General Manager, Wendy, was having a lesson! It was such a lovely atmosphere and residents were telling each other life stories. It's such a hit that we've been doing it almost every afternoon.

Gavin Comes Again

We would all like to congratulate Care Assistant, Renata Szwarc, here at Chater Lodge, who celebrated 10 years of employment.General Manager, Wendy, was there to give out her award along with all the staff and residents who came together to give her a lovely bouquet of flowers and a bottle bubbly! Well done, Renata, from all hear at Chater - here's to another 10 years!

Renata was also nominated for Employee of the Month. Although she never spoke a word of English when she first started here, relatives have said how much the residents adore her; she's kind and compassionate and always goes that extra mile.
