Activities at Cherry Trees Care Home

Our activities team are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual social events for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are regular outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest, including the local theatre, as well as visits from Pat dogs, musicians and entertainers. We also host bingo, quiz and knitter natter afternoons that we encourage relatives and the local community to attend. Our Gentleman's Club is also open to non-residents every Thursday afternoon from 2:30pm, join us for a tipple of your choice, we have plenty of snacks and chats. For the ladies, our beauty salon provides; hairdressing and nail pampering, you too can enjoy a drink and some well-deserved 'me' time. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Cherry Trees is fun and active.

Carers Week

From the 7th to the 13th, we celebrated Carers Week. Here at Cherry Trees, we celebrated our wonderful carers with a party in our sensory garden.

The kitchen team made this delicious spread for us all and we got to try out our new bar. Everyone had a fantastic time and we can't thank all the staff at Cherry Trees enough for being amazing.

Everyone also received a box of delicious chocolates and a thank you card from Barchester Healthcare and Debbie, our General Manager.

The Sun in Style

We all got out to enjoy the sun in our wonderful new sensory garden. We spent the morning doing some arts and crafts creating lovely folded paper butterflies. Others had a go at Relish Aqua Paintings and scratch art.

In the afternoon, we were back out in the sun and had a great time with our seaside-themed quiz. We also found ourselves a little feathery friend who has built a home for her family in this little corner.

Garden Fun

We are definitely enjoying and soaking up this beautiful sunshine here at Cherry Trees. Residents have just been relaxing and enjoying some refreshing cold ice lollies to keep their hydration up in our beautiful sensory garden.

Some have chosen to bring out their mindfulness colouring whilst listening to the birds sing. Residents have also been supported by the team to have their lunch on the Memory Lane community balcony, overlooking our beautiful sensory garden.

We always like to make the most of the sunshine at Cherry Trees.

Welcome back Hairdresser!

Just like the rest of the country Cherry Trees residents have been waiting patiently for months to get their hair professionally styled. so we are so very happy to welcome back our hairdresser to our onsite Salon. Residents have been very great full and would like to thank Jo from Activities after doing a wonderful job keeping the residents esteem needs met with their weekly hairs needs, but she would agree that it is wonderful to see the hairdresser back in the home again, with a-bit more normality into the home again.

Happy International Nurses Day

Today we celebrate the anniversary of the birth of nursing pioneer Florence Nightingale, also known as International Nurses Day, by acknowledging our dedicated and hard working nurses at Beautiful Cherry Trees care home.

This year, more than ever, we are hugely indebted to all our staff members, and we are incredibly proud to applaud their extraordinary efforts and commitment, on this special day of recognition.

International Nurses Day is a day to give thanks for the dedication of caregivers everywhere, who go above and beyond the call of duty to deliver extraordinary care and support. Thank you.

Happy VE Day

Residents at Cherry Trees have been enjoying VE Day celebrations all day. We had two amazing performances by the fantastic Phoebe from Silver Belles Music. She sang all the classics and the residents enjoyed singing along.

Also, as part of the VE Day celebration,s we had some delicious cupcakes, which were made by our lovely chef, Ashat, and Activities Coordinator, Rachael, dressed up as a land girl and made this beautiful window display of a Royal British Legion Tommy figure to help us commemorate all those involved in the war effort.

We all had a lovely day and had wonderful conversations about the past and remembering the celebration on VE Day in 1945.

We hope everyone else had a wonderful day too!
