Activities at Cherry Trees Care Home

Our activities team are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual social events for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are regular outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest, including the local theatre, as well as visits from Pat dogs, musicians and entertainers. We also host bingo, quiz and knitter natter afternoons that we encourage relatives and the local community to attend. Our Gentleman's Club is also open to non-residents every Thursday afternoon from 2:30pm, join us for a tipple of your choice, we have plenty of snacks and chats. For the ladies, our beauty salon provides; hairdressing and nail pampering, you too can enjoy a drink and some well-deserved 'me' time. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Cherry Trees is fun and active.

A Big 'Thank You' from all at Cherry Trees

The residents and staff at Cherry Trees would like to send a big THANK YOU! to both TK Maxx, Redditch and our local Waitrose in Alcester.

TK Maxx delivered two boxes full of delicious goodies to the home on Friday 20th March which was an extremely unexpected surprise. The home manager Debbie decided to re-gift the contents to our hardworking staff members who have over the past few weeks gone above and beyond and will in the coming months continue to do so.

We were also pleased to receive a 'bucket full' of fresh flowers today from Waitrose. This beautiful gift helped brightened our residents rooms and the home became full of the sweet aroma of flowers.

We have been amazed at the generosity of others - thank you once again.

Mother's Day Afternoon Tea

Our 'Young At Heart' and 'Memory Lane' community residents were treated to an authentic afternoon tea of fancy cakes and finger sandwiches this Mother's Day, all severed on bone china cups, saucers and plates. Our activities and care teams helped some residents create beautiful flowering baskets for display around the home. Taking the time to sit and chat to these wonderful, strong ladies about their families and reading the messages of love they had received at such a difficult time was real privilege on this very special day.

On Saturday 7th March, Cherry Trees hosted its very own ‘Crufts’ with dogs of varying breeds, shapes and sizes joining us to undertake our home-made agility course (big thank-you to Brendan Hennessy for his design and amazing woodwork skills). All pooches ‘and handlers’ were on their best behaviour throughout the day. Our residents scored each round awarding Milo 3rd, Oscar 2nd and Kali the sheepdog with handler; carer Ebony stealing the show taking 1st prize across all categories. A fantastic day for all involved, full of giggles and woofs!

Home Baking in Cup-Cake Café

Activities Coordinator; Jo-Anne set up an afternoon of baking in our beautiful 'Cup-Cake-Café' located in Memory Lane at Cherry Trees. Our residents enjoyed mixing the ingredients and carefully spooning the correct amount of mixture into each baking case. While the cakes were cooking the group spent time colouring cake images for display. Everyone loved eating the finished Vanilla sponges, washing them down with a lovely cup of tea.
