Activities at Cheshire Grange Care Home
The activities team are constantly striving to meet the varied needs of everyone who lives in our home, offering a wide range of group and individual social events. There are regular visits from entertainers, along with craft activities, baking, games & puzzle days and pampering sessions, which fill the week. However, we can always find time for outings and just spending that little bit of special time with residents who enjoy the peace and quiet. We aim to bring the activities to the individual, whilst making it a whole home experience.

Jo Eland
After originally starting at Cheshire Grange in May 2015, I'm delighted to be back in the role of Activities Coordinator. It is a privilege to be in this role and spend time, getting to know our ladies and gentleman and their loved one, whilst doing all the fun things that can make such a difference to their days.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Cheshire Grange Care Home

Singing to you!
Music is so important in our world, and nobody who desires access to the beauty of music should be denied this by their circumstances.
Sandra Currie, Care Home Entertainer, helped us to share the warmth of music with residents who would not normally be able to share the joy of our entertainers, after entertaining our residents in the lounge Sandra then became a strolling songstress visiting residents in their rooms, singing Que Sera Sera and You Are My Sunshine, the responses from residents and their families and Sandras natural connection with the residents made this a very special afternoon.

Stay at Home Outing!
We love to get out and about but sometimes we forget how lovely our own garden is, so we had a ‘Stop At Home Coffee Trip’ to the back patio in the glorious morning sunshine. The residents were able to join us for as long as they likes, some only passing through to say hello and make sure our biscuits were up to standard!
Over our coffee and biscuits we shared lots of memories of comedians of the past and were treated to a wonderful Les Dawson impersonation of his Cissy And Ada sketch.

Lockdown Ukes bring the Party to Cheshire Grange
We love our music at Cheshire Grange and always like to have a variety of styles from classical to musical hall favourites, to show tunes and of course we love a great party and we can always guarantee that with a visit from Lockdown Ukes.
We are getting in touch with the producers at Strictly Come Dancing after Doreen set the room alight with her YMCA moves.

On the Right Tracks for Lunch
Going out for lunch is always a treat, even more so when it’s to the lovely Station at Irlam. This is still a working station on the Liverpool Manchester line but it’s been turned into a quirky café and bar, that’s packed with railway memorabilia.
It was a beautiful day so the ladies opted to sit outside on the platform, after a quick perusal of the menu pancakes with maple syrup and an omelette were chosen along with some alcohol free lager!
The food and atmosphere were matched by the company and the chatter we had, which continued long after returning to base as the ladies told their friends and families about their outing.
MANY HAPPY RETURNS -104 of Them!
A residents birthday is always a happy occasion and we recently celebrated a very special birthday with resident Peggy. Peggy was 104, when she was born King George V was on the throne, as a girl guide Peggy paraded in front of Queen Mary who was patron of the organisation, which is just one of the many most amazing memories she has to share.
Peggy was joined by her family and friends for a party, the room was decorated with the many cards she had received from local residents and care homes in the area as well as from fellow Barchester residents far and wide. Peggy was surprised but delighted when special visitor arrived, Councillor Steve Wright, Mayor of Warrington.
After the event Peggy said ‘ They made such a lot of it, I hadn’t expected any of that’

Rotary Club Donation
A big thank you from everyone at Cheshire Grange to Lymm Rotary Club for their very kind donation of bedding plants.
The Rotary Club make a donation to all the care homes within their district the individual homes choosing what they would like, again this year after last year’s success we asked for bedding plants to plant up our Memory Lane balcony, which in a few weeks will be a riot of colour.
