Activities at Corrina Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Corrina Lodge Care Home

Barchester's Big Quiz!

The Corrina Lodge Community, staff and residents, enjoyed an absolutely smashing afternoon as they competed against fellow Barchester Healthcare Homes in the south region in a virtual quiz. Although we didn’t win on this occasion it was wonderful to get together and share some great laughs and good company. Val Turner pictured with manager Dumitru Varzaru said ‘what an absolute blast!’. Residents at Corrina Lodge love a good quiz and it’s great to have a bit of healthy competition.

The show must go on!

Residents and staff really enjoyed performing this year’s Christmas show ‘The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.' It was written by residents and staff and was a real team effort. The show was performed before the Christmas Party and was great fun! We’ve already started thinking about future shows and will definitely be having a regular amateur dramatics group in the coming year.

Christmas Wreath Making Masterclass with Blooming Haus

Residents recently enjoyed a virtual Christmas wreath making masterclass, which was delivered by Blooming Haus, as part of Barchester's Life Enrichment Programme.

Residents said they thoroughly enjoyed the masterclass and that it is great to have the opportunity to learn a new skill or refresh their knowledge. Armed with all the top tips learnt from the class residents worked together to create a wonderful Christmas wreath. The wreath will be entered into this year’s National Christmas Competition within Barchester Healthcare.

The Christmas wreath is now placed proudly in our entrance to warmly welcome visitors into our community. It feels very special to know that the wreath has been created with lots of love and laughter. Residents and staff are looking forward to a very Merry Christmas!

Live Nativity Scenes in our Garden's

Last week the residents and staff enjoyed the living nativity from Miller's Ark. We were very fortunate that the rain held off and we were able to spend a great afternoon together. Several residents said it had made their day, which is wonderful to hear. Also a big shout out to the lovely Esme from Miller's Ark who was so friendly and informative  and helped to make the event so special

Book Club

The book club that one of our wonderful residents Val started last month is going really well. The book that Val has been reading during November is ' The Children of the New Forest'. by Fredrick Maryatt.  Val says that running  the book club and reading aloud has made a real difference to her personally and she has noticed the benefits.  She is really enjoying offering this club and hope it enriches the lives of the community she lives in. It would be great if you fancy reading it and letting us know what you thought. We know Val would loves this!
