Activities at Cubbington Mill Care Home
Every day we run different activities throughout our home. The activities are designed and adapted to each individuals personal needs. The activities are designed to mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for and also to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self-worth. The activities encourage interaction on a one to one basis, in small groups, in large groups and some are designed for the whole home including staff to be involved in.
We are registered with the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) which ensures we are able to achieve and continually progress to enhance the quality of life for those we support in the home. We provide entertainers such as singers, musicians, magicians, puppeteers, poets and dancers. We also have regular exercise classes and arts and craft classes. Relatives and visitors will be able to see what me make in these classes on display around the home. We have regular trips out on the mini bus to visit garden centres, enjoy high tea, visit the butterfly farm and spend the day at the zoo with a picnic. We encourage the local community, schools, colleges and relatives to come and join us for activities, tea and cake and to visit to share their skills as much as possible.
Staff from across the home are always willing to help and share their knowledge and skills across a whole range of activities we have had everything from carers preforming Bollywood style dancing to cooking classes from the chef. We feel activities are a vital part of the residents lives to ensure they are stimulated mentally and entertained.

Life at Cubbington Mill Care Home
Celebrating Chelsea flower show
Residents Pat, Hazel, Moira, Pat, Paula and Una celebrated The Chelsea Flower Show by making prize winning posie bunches together, with bright yellow and pink roses, red tulips and filling the gaps with gypsiphilia. A lovely day was had by all!
A Trip to the Pub!
A trip to the pub, 'The Two Boats' in Long Itchington, 2 days in a row, even with 20+ degrees temperature the ladies all wanted a blanket and said the winds were like up north!
Bruce, our Resident Ambassador, John, Sylvia, Pat, Hazel, Brenda and Mea all admired the views and spoke to friendly locals over a coffee. There were endless people to talk to even boats passing by and a friendly wagging tail or 2.
A Very busy day at Cubbington MIll
We had a wonderful day today! We started with a fun Scrabble club where we challenged each other with words and learned some new ones too. Then we went to Morrisons for a coffee club and enjoyed some delicious drinks and snacks. We also did some food shopping. After that, we came back to the home and had a lovely singing session where we sang some of our favourite songs and felt happy and relaxed. We can't wait to see what adventures we will have next week!
Celebrating the King's Coronation
We all had a an amazing time celebrating the historic Coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla in our home. Our residents made lovely bunting and flags with red, white and blue colours, creating a festive atmosphere for our royal garden party.
We enjoyed a barbecue, live music, and a creative workshop. We also welcomed our families, friends and neighbours to join us in honouring our new King and Queen and their vision for the future. Our wonderful head housekeeper Julie baked some scrumptious cakes and pies for everyone, along with some bubbly drinks. It was a joyous occasion that we will always remember.
Creative Mojo Workshop
It was a festive day at Cubbington mill as the residents got creative with Coronation-inspired arts and crafts. Thanks to Creative Mojo, they had a wonderful time making decorations for the upcoming Coronation. Everyone was smiling and proud of their work. What a wonderful way to celebrate and have fun!
Coronation talk
Across our services Residents had a wonderful time participating in an interactive virtual talk with Pippa Catterall, Professor of History and Policy at the University of Westminster, where we delved into the rich history of coronations.
During the talk, we explored fascinating topics such as the coronation chair, the crown, and other significant aspects related to King Charles' upcoming coronation. Our residents were thrilled to have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the memoirs of past coronations from 1937 and 1953, as well as learning about the coronation oath and what to expect from the ceremony, including the music, guests, and pageantry.
