Activities at Four Hills Care Home

Our activity and lifestyle programme is arranged for all our residents to participate in and is updated regularly based on ideas from our residents group during our resident forum. Our Resident of the Day strategy ensures each person receives at least one day each month where the focus is all about them.

We have a monthly concert and to date this is appreciated and enjoyed by most residents. The Four Hills Taverns is open for business every Friday afternoon and is an area where residents and staff socialise, hold pub quizzes and partake in a little refreshment.

The team at Four Hills try hard to meet everyone's needs and encourage all residents and their families to join in the fun.

Life at Four Hills Care Home

Baking club

Residents from Four Hills enjoyed an afternoon of chocolate cupcake baking as part of their baking masterclass which took them back to their younger years.  Baking sessions are a popular activity for the home and the activity had taste buds tingling.

Lindsay McCulloch, General Manager said: “The residents enjoyed getting creative with their baking as it not only brings back memories of their childhood, but also times when they’ve baked with their own children and grandchildren. Once all the cakes were set, we all enjoyed sitting down with a cup of tea to enjoy!”

Flower arranging

Residents at Four Hills were delighted with their final results after popular group activity - flower arranging. Residents love to show their creative flair in this group activity and share stories of the days spent in their own gardens and favourite flowers. The floral creations are now displayed throughout the home for all to see.

English National Ballet

We celebrated Remembrance Day with English National Ballet Associate Dance Artist, Richard Bermange, who led a creative dance workshop for our residents followed by a special extract of Akram Khan’s work Dust, premiered in 2014 as part of ENB’s Lest We Forget programme, commemorating the First World War.

ENB company dancers, Erina Takahashi and James Streeter performed the extract and provided some insight into this moving work.

Our residents had a wonderful time as they listened, danced and were able to singalong to famous war time music performed by ENB Associate Musician, Matt Hartley-Stevens.

Residents enjoy cooking demo

We had a lovely time joining Chef Alex Connell from Vegetarian for Life for a Halloween-inspired virtual cooking demo.

Alex demonstrated how to prepare a few themed dishes, such as root vegetable tagine, roasted butternut squash mac-n-cheese, chocolate pots with piped biscuits and flapjacks.

Our residents were delighted to be a part of this lovely virtual culinary session by tasting the vegetarian dishes from the comfort of our home.

Games afternoon

Four Hills residents enjoying an afternoon of traditional old fashioned games, the competitive spirits came out and everyone was eager to win and all cheered each other on. Snakes and ladders and hoopla where the most popular on the day.

Family bond

Four Hills resident Sarah proving that distance is no barrier when it comes to celebrating your birthday with those you love. Sarah was joined at Four Hills with her 3 sons including 1 son who lives in Slovakia virtually where she had a great afternoon enjoying wine and cake and reminiscing together.
