Activities at Four Hills Care Home

Our activity and lifestyle programme is arranged for all our residents to participate in and is updated regularly based on ideas from our residents group during our resident forum. Our Resident of the Day strategy ensures each person receives at least one day each month where the focus is all about them.

We have a monthly concert and to date this is appreciated and enjoyed by most residents. The Four Hills Taverns is open for business every Friday afternoon and is an area where residents and staff socialise, hold pub quizzes and partake in a little refreshment.

The team at Four Hills try hard to meet everyone's needs and encourage all residents and their families to join in the fun.

Life at Four Hills Care Home

Relaxation Day

We spent time unwinding and slowing down through relaxing our minds, bodies and senses in recognition of Relaxation Day.

Our residents enjoyed a relaxing yoga and meditation session, as well as, a wellness and pamper afternoon with treatments of their choice.

We had a discussion about different ways of relaxing and we all enjoyed our chill day.

Snap happy at Four Hills

To mark World Photography Day, staff and residents at Barchester’s Four Hills were treated to a live streaming photography masterclass courtesy of top professional photographer, Damian Bailey.

A professional photographer since 2003, Damian has won Wedding Photographer of the Year and is listed as one of London’s top wedding photographers, having photographed over 700 weddings.  Damian travels all over the country shooting weddings, events and families and loves to help people create memories by capturing wonderful images that will be passed on from generation to generation.

Damian’s talk explained how he goes about capturing special moments and what makes a great photo in terms of technique and composition.  From landscapes to portrait photos, Damian shared his hints and tips for getting the best shots whatever the subject matter.

Night fever with V&A Dundee

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Four Hills were treated to a talk about nightclub culture by V&A Dundee Curator, Kirsty Hassard.  The presentation forms part of a series of six talks and virtual tours that V&A Dundee is hosting for Barchester Healthcare’s care homes and private hospitals across the UK.

V&A Dundee is Scotland’s design museum, it showcases Scotland’s outstanding design achievements and features world-class exhibitions alongside the permanent Scottish Design Galleries, and a changing programme of commissions, events and activities.

Kirsty’s talk looked at the history and design of night clubs, and examined club culture from the 1960s to the present day.  She explored their evolution and development around the world, from Italy to America, and closer to home, looking at their importance as cultural venues and designed spaces.

'Eyes down' for a game of bingo

It was ‘eyes down’ for residents at Four Hills as they attempted to win a full house during a game of bingo, with activities the house caller!

Many of the residents have played bingo prior to moving into the home and bingo continues to be a popular game for the home as part of its life enrichment programme. There is lots of excitement in the air to see who will claim the prize!
