Activities at Four Hills Care Home

Our activity and lifestyle programme is arranged for all our residents to participate in and is updated regularly based on ideas from our residents group during our resident forum. Our Resident of the Day strategy ensures each person receives at least one day each month where the focus is all about them.

We have a monthly concert and to date this is appreciated and enjoyed by most residents. The Four Hills Taverns is open for business every Friday afternoon and is an area where residents and staff socialise, hold pub quizzes and partake in a little refreshment.

The team at Four Hills try hard to meet everyone's needs and encourage all residents and their families to join in the fun.

Life at Four Hills Care Home

Residents enjoy cooking demo

We had a lovely time joining Chef Alex Connell from Vegetarian for Life for a Halloween-inspired virtual cooking demo.

Alex demonstrated how to prepare a few themed dishes, such as root vegetable tagine, roasted butternut squash mac-n-cheese, chocolate pots with piped biscuits and flapjacks.

Our residents were delighted to be a part of this lovely virtual culinary session by tasting the vegetarian dishes from the comfort of our home.

Games afternoon

Four Hills residents enjoying an afternoon of traditional old fashioned games, the competitive spirits came out and everyone was eager to win and all cheered each other on. Snakes and ladders and hoopla where the most popular on the day.

Family bond

Four Hills resident Sarah proving that distance is no barrier when it comes to celebrating your birthday with those you love. Sarah was joined at Four Hills with her 3 sons including 1 son who lives in Slovakia virtually where she had a great afternoon enjoying wine and cake and reminiscing together.

Pizza making

Four Hills residents thoroughly enjoying a pizza making afternoon residents loved having free reign with the variety of ingredients and the big debate was does pineapple belong on a pizza. We made that much that all the residents around the home had a wee sample of our delicious pizzas.

Unit Manager celebrated 15-years service

A Unit Manager at Four Hills Care Home in Glasgow has received a prestigious Long Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for fifteen years.

Eric Cordiner, now Unit Manager, started at Barchester in October 2006 and has worked closely with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.

Jane McFarlane, Employee Services Director at Barchester said: “I’m always pleased to hear stories about the long service of Barchester staff and am delighted Eric has achieved this milestone. It is dedication like this that ensures our residents are provided with a happy place to live.”

Creative writing

We had a great time joining journalist and novelist, Mike Gayle, for an intriguing virtual interview, during which he shared top tips for creative writing with our residents and read passages from his latest book, All the Lonely People.

We were thrilled to find out about Mike’s background, to understand what led him to become a writer and his creative process.

It was a lovely talk, enjoyed by all, especially by our keen writers at the home.
