Activities at Hampton Grove Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Lisa May

Activities Coordinator

I started working for Barchester in October 2020. The team here at Hampton Grove have made me feel welcome. No day is ever the same here.

My varied daily activities and events help to create a stimulating engagement programme to enhance the quality of life for each resident within the home.

Life at Hampton Grove Care Home

Giant Kerplunk

We made a giant Kerplunk game for residents to enjoy! The aim of the game is to pull out the sticks that are holding the balls in place. The resident with the least amount of balls at the end of the game is the winner! Residents got very competitive!

Messages of Kindness

We were lucky enough to receive some letters from local school children of Hampton Gardens. We read through the letters and wrote each child a personal reply. We hope to write to them weekly with a meeting planned for when this awful virus has gone! The residents thoroughly enjoyed putting their writing skills to the test, and their replies were just perfect!

A Kind Donation

Tesco came in at the weekend and delivered bananas to our residents as a gesture of goodwill, which made a great deal of residents smile at the sight. They will not go to waste as they have already been tucked into, and the remainder will go towards making some delicious smoothies.

80th Birthday Celebration

Resident Brian turned the grand age of 80 yesterday! Unfortunately we had to cancel the entertainment we had planned but with it being such a milestone birthday Brian deserved to still have a special day!

Kitchen made a beautiful cake, we blew up balloons, made party games and turned up the music! Brain enjoyed a celebration with some of his fellow residents, we sang, danced, played pass the parcel, shared memories and laughed lots! Oh and of course scoffed cake! Brian stated “I wasn’t expecting all this!”

Staying in Touch

We know how important it is for our residents to stay in touch with their loved ones, so residents have been making contact with their loved ones via telephone, FaceTime and Skype video calls. There has been lots of tears of happiness, and it’s so heart-warming to see! If you would like to video call your loved one, please get in touch to arrange a session.

Perfect Pizza

We celebrated National Pizza Day on 9th February, and it is always a favourite with our residents. They chose their base then started to decorate them with the variety of toppings available. Once finished, they were sent off to the kitchen to be baked. While we waited patiently, we discussed some interesting pizza facts. Did you know that pepperoni is the most popular choice?

It wasn’t long before the smell of bread and all those yummy toppings came wafting from the kitchen. Once cooled, residents enjoyed devouring what they had created.

We look forward to celebrating this event again next year!
