Activities at Hampton Grove Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Activities Coordinator

I started working for Barchester in October 2020. The team here at Hampton Grove have made me feel welcome. No day is ever the same here.

My varied daily activities and events help to create a stimulating engagement programme to enhance the quality of life for each resident within the home.

Life at Hampton Grove Care Home

Gentleman's Club

The gentlemen at Hampton Grove have been enjoying a game of dominoes, friendly chats and reminiscing about the good ol' days.

Music for the Mind

Our residents have received an extremely kind donation of MP3 players from dementia charity Purple Angels Global. These MP3s have proved positive to some of our dementia residents, as we are seeing them dance along both standing and sitting whilst listening to them.

Wimbledon Week

This week, we are celebrating what would have been Wimbledon Week by indulging in some of our favourite treats, both traditional and quirky.

We have enjoyed strawberries and cream, washed down with a cool glass of Pimm's and lemonad, and also took part in the fun of dipping our marshmallows into the gooey runny chocolate fountain before popping them into our mouths for a sweet treat.

100th Birthday Celebrations

A big happy 100th birthday to one of our much loved residents, Miriam, who celebrated in style.

Although we are living in some very unusual times, our team did their best to give Miriam a day to remember, celebrating with dlowers, cake, cards, presents, Fizz and a well deserved visit from 2 members of her family in the garden. Although we all had to keep to the social distancing rules, we had a wonderful time celebrating and, of course, Miriam received her very special telegram from the Queen.

Royal Celebrations

Just before the Queen’s birthday, our residents, the activities team and the kitchen team got together to discuss ideas and creativity on what a cake fit for the Queen might look and taste like.

We decided that the cake would need to be decorated in the traditional colours of red, white and blue, and of course, resemble the Union Jack.

We knew that the Victoria sponge was named after Queen Victoria, who apparently ate a slice of sponge cake with her tea each afternoon, so we decided this traditional recipe would be best and Head Chef, Duncan, gathered all the ingredients he needed to made it a reality.

The cake was two tiers of beautiful yumminess, definitely fit for a queen. Residents chose to sketch some photos of the cake as a keepsake and memory before scoffing a huge slice with lashings of hot tea, quite like the Queen may have done.

Kindness Cupcakes

Residents made some beautiful cupcakes and decorated them with rainbow coloured sprinkles, we later offered them to our neighbours as a friendly gesture for Mental Health Awareness Week, we hope they were scrummy!
