Luke Owens

General Manager

Hi, my name is Luke and I am General Manager here Highfield Care Home. Welcome to our website!

Thank you for taking the time to look further into what we have to offer to you or your loved one. Here is an opportunity to look at some of our staff team in the home, who all play a vital role in day-to-day life.

I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, starting my career in the health sector straight from school.  In 2016, I secured my first General Manager position before progressing in 2021 to a Regional Director role. 

In October 2024 I joined the team here at Highfield and I am passionate about the Barchester values and to ensure our team delivers the best standard of care and lifestyle to all of our residents.

Jordon Carr

Deputy Manager

Hello, my name is Jordon, I am the Deputy Manager here at Highfield Care Home.

I have worked in the care sector since 2017 gaining experience of working in domiciliary, nursing and residential settings before joining Barchester in 2020 transferring from a sister home to Highfield in 2024.

My main role here is to ensure our residents receive outstanding care, from overseeing clinical policies and procedure to maintaining the highest level of care standards, and supporting colleagues in achieving this.

Ruth Hardy

Home Services Advisor

Hello. My name is Ruth and I am the Home Services Advisor here at Highfield.

I joined Barchester in February 2024. My career to-date has focused on community work and delivering first-class customer service.

Whether you are considering care for yourself or a loved one, my role is to support you with peace of mind and a smooth transition into our home. At Highfield we pride ourselves on the delivery of a high standard of care and companionship, with the wellbeing and individual needs of our residents being at the forefront of all of our minds.
 

Claire Scholes

Administrator

Hello, my name is Claire and I am the Homes Administrator, joining the team in March 2024.

I have worked in the care sector since 2019 and there is no role like it!  It is such a rewarding role, supporting our residents and their families moving into care. I studied HR Management at Huddersfield University and have worked in administrative roles since leaving school.

My duties support the day-to-day running of the home, payroll, invoicing and contracts.  I enjoy meeting and greeting relatives, residents and professionals, making time for everyone as I have an open-door policy. I enjoy working as a team member and am very proud to play a part here at Highfield.

Hi, my name is Neil, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Highfield! I joined the team and role in March 2025.

I love being around people and making a difference to those individuals. Just to see the smiles on their faces brings so much pleasure. I have been a vocalist since 2021, and singing brings me so much joy. You may hear me before you see me.

Hello, my name is Judith and I am the Head Chef here at Highfield Care Home. Originally from Cheshire, I trained as a Chef at Crewe College and have over 25 years of catering experience in care and hospitality settings.

I have a passion for creating good, traditional food whilst adapting to modern trends. It is important to create food that is delicious, nutritious, nourishes the body and soul, and tailored to the personal tastes of our residents.

Hello, my name is Imam, I am Head of Maintenance here at Highfield Care Home.

I have worked in maintenance for over 10 years.  I enjoy supporting our residents and ensuring that our home environment is kept safe.  

It doesn't matter whether you require something small to make your room feel more homely, or something larger. I am happy to help.

Head Housekeeper

Hello, my name is Stacey. I am the Head Housekeeper here at Highfield Care Home. 

I have over 10 years' experience working in care and and over 2 years of experience in house keeping. 

I am a friendly person who likes to speak with the residents and get to know them and their interests. I enjoy knitting and bingo, which is something I would love to do with our residents. 

I have chosen to work for Barchester as they are really supportive in keeping their residents' independence and their values at the core of their care which really resonates with me and how I like to work.

Hello my name is India, I have worked in the care industry over 2 years in various roles.

I have chosen to work for Barchester because of the positive work place environment, the beautiful scenery of Highfield Care Home and the high standards of care proven throughout their many homes.

Hello, my name is Pat, I am the resident ambassador.

I feel like a valued member of the care home here at Highfield and I am looking forward to supporting the other residents in the home. 

I have supported Luke with interviews for new members of staff and enjoy having a natter with other residents to get to know them and make them feel welcome and help settle them into their new home.

Hi my name is Paula, I am a Senior Care Assistant at Highfield.

I began my career in care in 2012 working in my first Dementia care home and then moving to a senior role in 2016. 

I have built a strong foundation in dementia care and have a deep commitment to supporting others. My passions is to help people maintain their individuality and independence.

Hi, I'm Heidi, a Senior Carer at Highfield with a passion for making a difference in people's lives. My journey in the care sector began back in 2000, when I started as a chef in a care home. In 2017, I transitioned into a Care Assistant role because I wanted to be more hands-on with the residents and provide more direct care. I absolutely love my job, and in hindsight, I wish I had pursued it years ago. Every day brings new opportunities to make a positive impact, and I feel truly fulfilled knowing I can help improve the lives of those in my care.

I'm a qualified nurse from Ghana, and I relocated to England in October 2023 to pursue a career in care. I’m deeply passionate about supporting those who need help the most, and it’s in this role that I truly thrive—dedicated to ensuring our residents live happy, fulfilling lives.

Hi, I’m Sue. I’ve been working in the care sector since 1999, with extensive experience in dementia care, residential care, and end-of-life support. I’ve also spent a significant amount of time in social care settings, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to my role as a care assistant. I chose this career because I’m naturally caring and compassionate, and I truly enjoy looking after others. I take great pride in connecting with the individuals I care for, as well as their friends and family. For me, providing a personal touch is what truly matters.

With over two decades of experience, I bring a wealth of knowledge to my current role. I truly love what I do, as it’s a rewarding career that allows me to support those who need assistance, helping to improve their lives.

Hello, my name is Lynsey, and I’m a care assistant here at Highfield. 

I began my career in care back in the 90s, and over the years, I’ve gained extensive experience in areas such as nursing care, special needs, challenging behaviors, and dementia. Caring truly runs in my blood—many of my family members work in various roles within the care sector, whether as nurses or in other capacities. I absolutely love my job and find joy in bringing smiles to the faces of both residents and their families. My goal is always to ensure the residents are well cared for, especially when their loved ones aren’t able to be here with them.

Hi my name is Carol, I am the Hostess here at Highfield Care Home.

I have worked in a care home for over since 2014. As Hostess I try everyday to bring joy and a positivity to the residents, which can make a huge different in their day-today- lives. I enjoy making the residents laugh and can be a comforting ear which is vital in care.

Lindsay Thewlis

Second Chef

Hello my name is Lindsay, 

I am the second chef here at Highfield Care Home. 

I  started my catering career in 1996, being trained in the Royal Logistics Core in the British Army. 

I enjoy 1-2-1 sessions with the residents especially baking and discussing their menu preferences, I find this is a wonderful way to engage with them and make the feel involved. I enjoy brightening the day of our residents with thoughtful touches such as treats for the cafe I know they will enjoy or personalizing birthday cakes.

Hi my name is Paul I am one of the drivers here at Highfield.

I have over 40 years of experience in catering education, and after retiring, I felt inspired to work at the care home where my mother-in-law lived. I was impressed by the compassionate staff and the positive atmosphere, so I decided to join the team. My passion for care continues to drive me as I strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the residents.

Advanced Clinical Practitioner

Hello, I am Steph, I am the Advanced Clinical Practitioner. 

I became a qualified ACP in 2015, after completing my nursing degree in 2011 and my master’s in 2017. My background is in A&E, but since 2018, I’ve been working in General Practice. I currently work with the Tadcaster & Selby Rural PCN. I really enjoy supporting both the practice and the clinical needs of the care home. I visit Highfield on a weekly basis, so feel free to come say hello if you see me around!
