Activities at Hilderstone Hall Care Home

Our activities team are, first and foremost, devoted to each and every resident in the home, and strive to ensure that their interests, hobbies, capabilities and individual requests are met to the highest standard. This could include one-to-one chats, hand massages, reading, music therapy, flower arranging, movement to music, arts & crafts, gardening and baking. We also have regular fun, adventurous and stimulating trips, where we encourage families and loved ones to join us. We have close links with the Alzheimer's Society, the local primary school, and Trinity Skills who come to sing with residents. All the staff at Hilderstone Hall participate in activities with residents, offering encouragement, stimulation and interaction for everyone involved, providing the most fulfilling experience possible.

Hannah Perry

Activities Lead

Hi I’m Hannah and I am the Activities Lead. I have two children and love spending time on my allotment growing fruit and veg. I joined the team at Hilderstone Hall in October 2023 and have become a valued member of the team. I enjoy working with the residents and getting to know them, as well as making sure they take part in various activities such as singing, crafts, baking and much more! I have over 9 years experience within the care industry and worked previously as an Activities Co-Ordinator before coming to Hilderstone.

Life at Hilderstone Hall Care Home

A Certificate of Recognition

Congratulations to everyone at Hilderstone Hall on receiving a Certificate of Recognition presented by The HM Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire, Ian Dudson CBE KstJ

This accolade is a huge boost to us all and was awarded to the home in 2022 for :-

"Outstanding service to the community of Staffordshire throughout the Covid-19 Pandemic"

National Trust talk

Our homes had a fantastic time joining National Trust Talks Service team at Cliveden House for an inspirational talk on Nancy Astor – the first woman to take a seat in the House of Commons.

Our residents had the opportunity to learn more about the fascinating life of Nancy and her political career. As the first women MP, she experienced both attention and scandal throughout her life, which led to many triumphs and numerous disasters.  The talk was truly enjoyed by all.

Joanne's extra special ticket for her service

Congratulations to Hostess, Joanne Macari who was rewarded for her efforts when she received an Invitation from Ian Dudson CBE KstJ.  HM Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire to attend the Platinum Jubilee Garden Party at The Staffordshire County Show for going above and beyond in her role as Hostess at the care home

Joanne has worked at Hilderstone Hall for more than 14 years and was nominated to represent Hilderstone Hall, in the care home category, by colleagues who felt she really deserved extra recognition for the amazing work she does every day.  Within the role as a Hospitality Hostess Joanne strives to create a stimulating environment for residents so that everyone receives the all-round care and support they deserve.

During the pandemic Joanne adapted her role to include coordinating family visits by appointment to the visiting POD and managing the very important infection control policy for visitors by checking evidence of vaccines and carrying out the LFD tests and this was recognised by the organisers of the special event.

A Jolly Jubilee

We celebrated Her Majesty the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in style by hosting a garden party with an Afternoon tea, Ice cream on the lawn together with games & challenges for all!

Staff wore jolly colours of red, white and blue to mark the occasion.  The tombola proved very popular with a lot of happy winners and the cake bake sale raised a brilliant £71.50 for the Resident's fund.

Ferndown florist demo

Our homes had a lovely time joining Sue and Nicole from Ferndown Florist for an intriguing flower arrangement workshop in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Our residents enjoyed a wonderful virtual demonstration and got inspired to create their own flower posies for our Jubilee displays.  Our home will be specially decorated for the upcoming festivities. Stay tuned.

Senior Health and Fitness Day

On Senior Health & Fitness Day we met mid morning in the grand sitting room for an invigorating and fun filled chair Zumba Class!

We also had a lovely sociable chat over healthy refreshments including fresh fruit salad cups served with a selection of fruit and herbal teas.  Everyone agreed this was a great was to start the day.
