Activities at Hilderstone Hall Care Home
Our activities team are, first and foremost, devoted to each and every resident in the home, and strive to ensure that their interests, hobbies, capabilities and individual requests are met to the highest standard. This could include one-to-one chats, hand massages, reading, music therapy, flower arranging, movement to music, arts & crafts, gardening and baking. We also have regular fun, adventurous and stimulating trips, where we encourage families and loved ones to join us. We have close links with the Alzheimer's Society, the local primary school, and Trinity Skills who come to sing with residents. All the staff at Hilderstone Hall participate in activities with residents, offering encouragement, stimulation and interaction for everyone involved, providing the most fulfilling experience possible.
Ellie Robinson
Hi, my name is Ellie and I am the Activities Co-ordinator here at Hilderstone Hall.
I joined the team in November 2024 having previously worked in hospitality and event planning. I am not new to working in healthcare - earlier in my career I trained and worked as a Care Assistant and obtained my NVQ Level 2 and Higher Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
I bring bags of energy and enthusiasm and I enjoy spending time with Residents, getting to know them individually, their personalities, likes and dislikes. Ultimately, this enables me to plan and deliver a tailored activities programme to suit their wants and needs.
I am also a qualified florist, which supports the creativity involved in the role and I can inspire Residents to participate in regular and new activities and events.
Outside of work, I am a Mum to my young Son, which keeps me busy! In my spare time my family and I enjoy getting out in the the fresh air for walks and there is usually a coffee and cake stop too!

Games afternoons
Residents enjoy regular interactive and sociable games
Just one of the many health benefits of playing domino is to boost immune system. Playing such games give us positive feelings and can make boosts to our immunity. In addition, it can train our brain function as well as fights several diseases.
Musical Moments
Flautist Anna from Musical Moments visited to perform a wonderful set. We had a brilliant time singing, dancing and moving to various musical games
The Unconventional Menagerie
We were visited by several rescue animals, residents held various exotic creatures
Menagerie favorites were Colin the red footed tortoise, Toby the snake and Elsa beautiful Artic Fox
Employee of the Month
Residents and staff at Hilderstone Hall applauded as Housekeeping and Laundry Assistant Lesley Stirzaker was named ‘Employee of the Month’ for her hard work, dedication to her work and positive attitude .
Lesley was nominated by Staff and residents who felt she really deserved extra recognition for the amazing work she does every day.
Theatre Live
We welcomed the Northeast Producers Theatre to the home for their summer show "When I'm Cleaning Windows"
Josh and Dan performed a great selection of classic songs entertaining the audience with their fabulous live performance.
Gardening Club
Our gardening club is growing in numbers, residents have made the most of the outdoors this summer taking part and keeping active. This year we have peas, beans and sunflowers.
Residents and staff have enjoyed watering and watching their creations grow, there is a huge sense of achievement.
