Activities at Hilderstone Hall Care Home
Our activities team are, first and foremost, devoted to each and every resident in the home, and strive to ensure that their interests, hobbies, capabilities and individual requests are met to the highest standard. This could include one-to-one chats, hand massages, reading, music therapy, flower arranging, movement to music, arts & crafts, gardening and baking. We also have regular fun, adventurous and stimulating trips, where we encourage families and loved ones to join us. We have close links with the Alzheimer's Society, the local primary school, and Trinity Skills who come to sing with residents. All the staff at Hilderstone Hall participate in activities with residents, offering encouragement, stimulation and interaction for everyone involved, providing the most fulfilling experience possible.
Ellie Robinson
Hi, my name is Ellie and I am the Activities Co-ordinator here at Hilderstone Hall.
I joined the team in November 2024 having previously worked in hospitality and event planning. I am not new to working in healthcare - earlier in my career I trained and worked as a Care Assistant and obtained my NVQ Level 2 and Higher Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
I bring bags of energy and enthusiasm and I enjoy spending time with Residents, getting to know them individually, their personalities, likes and dislikes. Ultimately, this enables me to plan and deliver a tailored activities programme to suit their wants and needs.
I am also a qualified florist, which supports the creativity involved in the role and I can inspire Residents to participate in regular and new activities and events.
Outside of work, I am a Mum to my young Son, which keeps me busy! In my spare time my family and I enjoy getting out in the the fresh air for walks and there is usually a coffee and cake stop too!

Life at Hilderstone Hall Care Home
These feet are made for walking!
Today at Hilderstone Hall we made the most of the sunshine and put on our walking shoes. we had a walk around the gardens in our Memory Lane Community and then a gentle jog around the grounds in our rear garden.
Jean has always been a keen runner and has always enjoyed a long distance run , this is something that makes her happy so while the weather was clear we relived her passion and went for a gentle jog .
Jean said " I have had a fantastic time it makes me so happy " and the smile on her face afterwards proved this to us.
Book corner with Henry Slator
We had a lovely time joining Henry Slator for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘Conversations at the Pond’.
Henry had an unusual writing journey, which many of our residents found inspiring, he underwent chemotherapy in early 2020, which allowed him to rediscover his light-hearted outlook on life by imagining conversations with creatures in and around his large garden pond and adding buckets of fun.
The entertaining Conversations at the Pond, with its mass of colourful illustrations, took our residents along his journey, they felt inspired, cheered and loved hearing all about Henry’s experiences.
Gardening Club
Residents at Hilderstone Hall took part in our Gardening Club as part of the life enrichment program here at the home. 2 weeks on and look at the amazing results ! So far we have sunflowers, French beans and peas shooting up and everybody is so proud and excited to see how they have grown .
A special delivery
This morning Hilderstone Hall received a special delivery from 8 year old Benjamin. Benjamin has knitted a number of Easter chicks filled with crème eggs and has started an egg raffle to raise money for the Dougie Mac , in memory of his Grannie who the Dougie Mac helped massively in 2020 , this charity is very close to Benjamin and his family's hearts and he wants to help to raise funds to help them to continue to provide the excellent care they gave to his Grannie and we at Hilderstone Hall are happy to help!.
Easter chicks and raffle tickets are available in the reception area with the raffle been drawn on Tuesday 19th April with all funds going to the Dougie Mac.
Keeping our minds active
Here at Hilderstone Hall we enjoy keeping our minds active. This afternoon Residents wound down and enjoyed a game or two of scrabble together with a drink of there choice.
The Astor's at Cliveden
Our residents came together to enjoy an exciting virtual talk courtesy of the team at National Trust Talks Service. The illustrated talk took us closer to one of Cliveden’s most famous families, the Astors. Our residents were able to discover what motivated William Waldorf Astor, America’s richest man, to purchase Cliveden in 1893 and how the estate became the centre of high society in the 1920 s and 30 s thanks to his son Waldorf and daughter in law Nancy Astor.
The Astors time at Cliveden came to an end in the 1960 s after the estate became infamously associated with Profumo Affair, but the house and garden continue to reflect their innovations and passions. We all had a brilliant time.
