Activities at Hilderstone Hall Care Home

Our activities team are, first and foremost, devoted to each and every resident in the home, and strive to ensure that their interests, hobbies, capabilities and individual requests are met to the highest standard. This could include one-to-one chats, hand massages, reading, music therapy, flower arranging, movement to music, arts & crafts, gardening and baking. We also have regular fun, adventurous and stimulating trips, where we encourage families and loved ones to join us. We have close links with the Alzheimer's Society, the local primary school, and Trinity Skills who come to sing with residents. All the staff at Hilderstone Hall participate in activities with residents, offering encouragement, stimulation and interaction for everyone involved, providing the most fulfilling experience possible.

Hannah Perry

Activities Lead

Hi I’m Hannah and I am the Activities Lead. I have two children and love spending time on my allotment growing fruit and veg. I joined the team at Hilderstone Hall in October 2023 and have become a valued member of the team. I enjoy working with the residents and getting to know them, as well as making sure they take part in various activities such as singing, crafts, baking and much more! I have over 9 years experience within the care industry and worked previously as an Activities Co-Ordinator before coming to Hilderstone.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Hilderstone Hall Care Home

The future with robots!

We enjoyed a wonderful virtual introduction to the world of robots with V&A Dundee Curator, Kirsty Hassard.

Kirsty talked us through the history of robots and their early beginnings, the presentation traced the fascination of all things wired and wonderful and considered what the future might hold for our relationship with a multitude of mechanical machines.

It was absolutely thrilling to learn what robots can do now and what they might be able to do in the future.

Nail Spa ladies

Residents at Hilderstone Hall have enjoyed having a morning pamper session.  The Nail Spa session is always popular.  Residents were feeling in high mood choosing summer colours with sparkles!  We take pride in helping our residents look and feel their best.

Regular Exercise Classes

Here at Hilderstone Hall we encourage our residents to stay active as part of the homes life enrichment programme. Residents have today enjoyed participating in chair based exercises, incorporating Balloons which was a fun and colourful way to spend the morning.  This exercise improves co-ordination and has a sensory benefit.   It was safe to say both residents and staff worked up a sweat before settling back to enjoy a refreshing cup of tea!

Inside Blenheim Palace gardens

We had a lovely time exploring the amazing gardens of Blenheim Palace through a virtual talk, hosted by the Historian - Antonia Keaney.

We enjoyed a virtual look at how the gardens at Blenheim have developed over the past 300 years - from the formality of Henry Wise through to the ‘natural’ landscape created by Capability Brown and beyond.

Everyone was very impressed by the many jewels hidden within the 150 acres of beautiful gardens.

Weekly Art Classes

Residents thoroughly enjoy gathering weekly for art classes as part of the life enrichment program.  We are very lucky to be surrounded by countryside with great views from the home.  This week we were inspired by the landscape on our doorstep to paint some of the views we see daily, using watercolour.

A peek inside Dartmoor Zoo

We were able to virtually dive into the impressive wildlife of Dartmoor Zoo.

We explored its grounds and learnt about the unique history of the park from the zoo’s educational team. The culmination of the tour was the live tiger training demonstration, which was wonderful to see and enjoyed by all.

Our residents were delighted to see amazing photos and short videos of the animals and take a peek inside their home.
